I can't remember the girls name but she just turned 21 and has already won a major tourney once played a sit and go and only looked at her whole cards once and used her reads the rest of the time and won the sit n go

This is how I feel about it.

They hope for it, but don't need it, which is why they make millions of dollars at the game. Not because they are extremely lucky, because they are extremely skilled.

I wonder if you're paid by agents too.

As for poker, I have a cousin who is insanely good. I love talking to him about how legitimate poker is. It just isn't gambling, there is definite skill. Sure, there are bad beats often, but the professionals win when it averages out EVERY TIME.

Yes I do play and I travel to vegas and AC about 8 times a year and play in many tournaments in the region so don't try and tell me about what is right and what is wrong when playing poker because there is no rule against playing any hand as long as you have the money to play.

Why dont you just become a pro poker player then? Im sure they make MUCH more money than you do. Wait let me guess, they are just wayyyy more lucky than you?

All you people saying that it's just luck or chance should go play against Hellmuth, Ivy, Negreanu, etc. Then tell us it's just luck. Chance may win you a hand or two against them, but they will take your money every time.

Is it a loss because you've been had?

Or is it a loss because "they" played dumb?

Pick any pro you can name. You vs. Pro heads up starting with the exact same amount. The 2 of you are going to play 100 times. How many times do you win?

Something like this is so ridiculous i would of been at a loss of words. First calling a $25 raise w J9 and then calling a $75 bet with bottom pair and bad kicker. Hell, she should have known her bottom 2 pair were beat when you went over the top all in for what about $550?

Well someone has personal issues with losing at poker and I don't claim to be a pro but I do play often and I seem to be doing very well for myself and my family with the job I already have or I would not be able to enjoy myself as much as I do and anytime you want to sit down and play some poker you let me know.
I don't get on here to argue with people that don't know me or what I do for a living but I am pretty sure that I have you covered and any time you are in the area and want to play I will be more than happy to have you stop by my club and have some drinks and enjoy the entertainment before we play some poker.

I laugh at the people who say its all about luck. I won't get into arguing about it though.

But the worst bad beat I ever had was a few years ago. I was playing in a tournament on pokerstars to go to the WSOP and had been playing really well my friends said it was the best they have even seen me play. It was about 200 spots till the final table(there were around 10,000 people) and the top 2 got a WSOP package. I had KK and was in mid position there was already 1 caller so I bet out 4.5 times the BB. Guy on the button calls and so does the person before me. Flop come KKQ guy who is first to acts bets half the pot I smooth call the guy on the button min raises and we both just call. Turn comes an Ace guy first to act checks I bet the pot dude on the button goes allin and has us both covered. Guy first to act takes the time but eventually folds and I obviously call. Dude on the button has AA and hits an Ace on river. If I would have won that pot I would have been in 2nd place at that point in the tourny.

Winning in a cash game or in a small tourny is skill. Winning a huge tourny with 1000s of players is skill+luck. Over a long enough period of time you will have to put all your chips in the middle without 100% chance of winning. Someone is bound to get a bad beat given the percentages, it happens.

Anyone who does not understand the skill needed to consistently play winning poker absolutely has to be a bad/break-even player. I wish I had the time or desire to argue the "luck" factor in poker but I gave that up after my last attempt. Let's just say the conversation ended with the guy telling me my pocket aces only had a 50% expected value pre-flop verses any hand he had because, "You either win with them, or you don't. That's 50/50." smh
