I was just at the MGM Grand playing in a tourney last Friday in the am when I witnessed a bad beat. Guy went all in after a flop of K J 7 (he had K J for 2 pair). Girl calls with A 4 off suit and the guy was like WTF are you doing. Of course she hit runner, runner 4's for trips. Dude was so pissed that he bought back into the tourney just sit at the table and berate her. Of course he ended up getting knocked out again by the same girl later on.

Anyways, what is the worst bad beat you have witnessed at your poker night?

I play poker a little, but I never understood why people get pissed at circumstances like this. Is it logical to play that hand? No. Shit happens. You lost.

I was playing online in a 26$ buy in tourney when a guy went all in with 88 after the flop. The flop was A 8 8. The guy called him with pocket aces (a bad beat in itself) The turn was a 5 or something and then on the river boom the 4th ace. Giving him four aces beating the other guys 4 8's. I swear this could only happen online. I have also seen a hand on there with pocket A's K's Q's 9"s and I fold pocket 5's that same hand. I think the queens ended up winning if i remember right.

You must not play poker or just aren't very good. When you lose a good amount of money because someone plays like a moron it is extremely frustrating.

Don't play a game that involves chance (yes poker involves an amount of skill and knowledge of when to bet what or fold but when it comes down to it the hands you get are chance) if you aren't prepared to get burnt.

I play poker and enjoy it but I don't bet money on it.

Might as well play Go Fish, or War if you are not going to play poker with real money.

Poker takes more skill than luck. And when you lose money when people play dumb it's frustrating. That's all I'm saying.

Why is that dumb? Is this like baseball with unwritten rules on when you're supposed to call? I don't get the big deal.

By not betting money on it I mean real money. Might play a $5 or $10 dollar buy in game occasionally with friends (very rarely) but I'm never going to put enough on it that I'd get really upset if I lost. Mostly because I'm not an idiot.

If you enjoy playing poker and betting on it okay, do it. But don't put so much in that you have to throw a tantrum if you lose.

Also, if the person wasn't cheating and didn't break any rules and they had the best hand they beat you. Nothing cheap about it. If you're actually the better player you'll make the loss up later.

yeah i bet you make those cards your bitch when you bet on them. of course it involves some sort of skill, but it takes a hell of alot more chance to win a poker tournament. dont act like you never played a statistically bad hand because you felt like it.

Worst I seen was when a girl called an all in from another guy at the table with 23 off the guy had three aces she ended up hitting a 4 on the turn and a 5 on the river. She was so excited and it pissed the dude off it was a classic cause it was only a $5 buy in. he started yelling at her and I stood up and said dude relax when you seen she called you were so happy she called now your pissed cause she hit wtf. He shut up then. And to anyone says poker aint luck i call bullshit. Ive played most of my life and luck has played a bigger part in every game that i have seen then skill has.

Then you haven't played with really good poker players on a consistent basis. Luck will only get you so far

I've gotten and handed out bad beats but here's the best of each situation.

Bad beat I got:
I raised and only the big blind called. I have pocket aces. The flop is A(s)-K(s)-4(s). I bet, he raises and I called. I'm a little cautious he popped a flush but the turn is another, giving me a full house, and topping his flush if I was right. I bet, he raises, I re-raises, he shoves and I call. He flips over Q-J of spades for the flopped nut flush, but my full house is ahead. Of course, there is one card in the deck that can he can catch to beat me. The river? 10 of spades to finish out his royal flush.

Bad beat I handed out:
I raise in middle position with pocket eights and the small blind comes along. The flop is A-10-8, giving me a sneaky bottom set of eights. He bets right off the bat and I'm thinking a straight draws, so I smooth call, praying it doesn't come. The turn is another eight, giving me quads, and now I'm praying he has that straight draw and hits, or something like A-K, or A-10. He bets out again, I min-raise and he calls. The river is another 10, now allowing him a full house with a 10. He instantly shoves. I stop for a second and consider the possibilty of pocket tens for quad tens but call obviously. He turns over pocket aces for Aces full of tens but it doesn't top my quad eights.

I dont usually let bad beats bother me more then a few mins. I know i have gotten lucky and handed some out myself. I have seen skill win about 90% of the time. I can't remember the girls name but she just turned 21 and has already won a major tourney once played a sit and go and only looked at her whole cards once and used her reads the rest of the time and won the sit n go

I think people try and make poker more difficult than it really is.There may be some skill involved but only a little such as trying to read your opponents actions but the game is about taking chances and getting lucky at times.I have never understood people that get mad because they lost a hand to someone that started with a weaker hand but hit the flop or river and ended up with the stronger hand because they think that people should just fold before the flop because they are not allowed to play a weak hand. When you look at the whole picture you will see that someone with 4-5 has the same chances of hitting a pair or a set as the player with K-J before the flop so you better be careful next time because this is poker and you have to take chances and you must have the guts to play with the big boys.

Yes I do play and I travel to vegas and AC about 8 times a year and play in many tournaments in the region so don't try and tell me about what is right and what is wrong when playing poker because there is no rule against playing any hand as long as you have the money to play.
