I never thought the boys could get back to the same weight they wrestled at state but it looks like they are going to make it! Harter is looking good for 112! Those boys have all worked so hard this weekend. Big team things on the horizon! Very very scary them Golden Bears. Dakota Stanley is looking good at 125! He is going to make some noise! From 112 to 160 .....WOW!! Thats all I can say! The big dudes are looking tough too, I just don't know them as well yet!

The 7th Annual All-Star Preview, (which benefits the GMOWCA) will be held at Ashland University on Monday, Nov. 29th @ 7pm.
Selections & match-ups will be made this week. I will post info. as soon as I compile it.
There is no criteria for match-ups other than wrestlers be as clsoe to each other in weight as practical at this time of the year.
I think its $5 adults and either $2 or $3 for students for admission. All proceeds go to low cost or free admission to camps, etc. sponsored by the GMOWCA, for its members, in the off-season, as well as very nice post season awards to recognize wrestlers and coaches.

Looks like Smithville might actually fill all weight classes this year. Probably still another year from really making alot of noise. 1 senior, 9 juniors, rest soph. and frosh. Should have a few wrestlers that have a great season. Pretty excited with Unkefer at the helm, I think he will get full potential out of this bunch.

Smithville is in good hands with Coach Unkefer. Good to hear that the team is full. The youth program and jr high work is starting to come of age. This will make the area stronger.

Thad will get everything outta those boys and then some. Wouldn't surprise me to see him turn in a few state qualifiers this year.

Lot's of tough wrestlers from around your area. WCAL is a given for Waynesburg,(IMO) but travel to Maple Heights and win. I see 2 teams as good as yours and it will be a dogfight!! I see Field will be at Hillsdale on Dec 4th. Is this a tourney or a dual? The Falcons have a couple tough kids!! TJ Fox will be around!!

Had to say something to get falcon81 going!! I know what I know, and I don't know nothin!!

Good Luck To all wrestlers!!

FirestoneFan...You're Killing Me...It's WAYNEDALE!!! Thanks for the tip of the hat, but Northwestern(West Salem) has a very solid team and will make a run to stifle the Bears Drive For 5 (Bears are looking to win a 5th consecutive WCAL title)

Glad to have Falcon81 around..

Hillsdale on dec 4th..i have no info on at this time.

1 beast I know of the area I speak of, just trying to see if anyone was paying attention. (actually it was just a typo) ville/burg

Falcon 81 knows me and there is no animosity (i hope).

Is the December 4th thing with Field a tourney or dual?

1_beast, you loved me back in the day when I predicted you to win Maple Heights. Can't remember the year but it was a Hudlde thing.

I don't travel well but I think I will go to the Field vs ? match on the 4th. We have a couple good wrestlers!!

Good Luck to all wrestlers!!

I read in tonights papers that Dave Rohr passed away. Most (unless your an old turd like myself) probably don't remember him. That dude was one tough cookie. I believe he was the class A 138LB state champ in 1980 or 1981. Even though the Mapleton wrestling program is a shell of its former self, they did manage to produce 6 or 7 state champs through the years. Sympathies to the Rohr family and Mapleton wrestling community.

TJ Fox? He should know better than to tangle with Waynedale boys. He's come up on the short end more than once! The Dec 4 at Hillsdale is probably a tourny as they have a season opener that is always hard to get results for. Black River, Riverview are a couple of schools that come to mind that are or use to be there. We should know more as the local newspaper preview comes out tomorrow for winter sports. Kidding aside wish TJ the best of luck this season. He hast vastly improved from the ol' days.

Glad everyone has a sense of humor!! I know the WCAL and that area always produces tough wrestlers!! As falcon stated , it is a shame some of the areas best get left out at Maple Heights but that's the way it is!! BTW I jumped the gun on Harter (maybe) as he is a very good wrestler. Falcon81 has seen him this preseason, so I can't ignore his thoughts. Looks like I might be able to make the trip to the Hillsdale tourney. Do they sell coney dogs? I am on a quest to find the best coneys offered at wrestling venues in the area this season. Some may call them chili dogs though.

I just went over the schedule and it seems if we agree to cease the Tuslaw Dual.....we could fit Chanel /Cuyahoga Heights in that same week! It would really be a move that would benefit schedule wise as to see a few tough matches. The downside is the Varsity/Jr High agreement...makes it kinda good for the younger kids to wrestle along with the High School kids. Im not sure the feelings of Tuslaw, however with their LOSS and our GAIN, I dont really see it as a feasible Dual at this point. We can wait and wrestle em at Sectionals.

Im guessing that it was an oversite when scheduling and adding the Coshocton/Olentangy tournaments, cut our points...but we dropped Cardington. Im sure the wrestlers, coaches and fans would like to see a high competition match early in the year as a barometer as to where we stand.

I talked to the Bigman....NO Cuyahoga Heights/Chanel Tri....we have traveled there the last 2 years, and they wont come to our house....so we didnt schedule em. If they have us on the Schedule, it is an error on their part.

Help me out here guys, but I'm not seeing the premier matches we've come to know & love. Grier & Rohskopf is interesting. I blame my lack of knowledge west & south. Like an ignorant blogger I will still make pics.

Beast wants to take time to wish The Wrestling Community a safe and Happy Thanksgiving....just take a moment and relish what we all have to be thankful for!

Now get ready to bust some butt....chase your dreams and wrestle like there is no tomorrow....because when you get down to it...there isn't!

Congrats to the WCAL contingent at the AU showcase. A bunch of wins, a few defeats, a ton of rust.

The WCAL is going to be closer this year top to bottom than in past years, 3 full teams (WD,NWN,SMV) a couple more close to full (NOR,CHI) , Hillsdale with a decent lineup from the middle on up, then Dalton with some prospects.

Things weight wise are still a little cloudy, but the next few weeks should clear that up.

Good luck to the Huskies at Bookmasters this weekend and everyone else in action.
