Judging from the article I posted above, it's obvious that he doesn't have to meet with the police at this point. They will investigate and probably charge him with some type of misdemeanor driving violation that will lead to a fine. It seems like there's definitely more to the story than is being told, and I'm in agreement with the people who feel like this was some type of domestic dispute. His wife was probably upset over the recent media stir over a possible affair and it led to a heated argument that ended in the accident.

I can understand why Tiger wouldn't voluntarily talk to the police if this was a domestic dispute. He wants to protect his family's privacy and his reputation. If he spoke to the police and told them that this wasn't just an accident, then that information will somehow leak to the public. If he tried to cover it up by lying to the police, then he could face further legal action. It's smart for him to keep things to himself and not voluntarily meet with the police because he doesn't have to lie and/or none of his private business gets released to the public.

We may never know exactly what happened and that's fine. Tiger obviously made some type of mistake, whether it was a moral issue or just a stupid mistake behind the wheel. That's probably the end of it.

In my experience that's probably right, but reckless driving isn't a walk to the 9th hole (pun intended), it is at least a court appearance in many jurisdictions, and possibly a suspension of license. My wife has a co-worker that was cited for reckless driving because she fell asleep driving to the gym after work, I'm sure no one would fault her morally, it was a mistake but she still had to go through the system, and it was hard on her. What was a fire hydrant could have been a kid walking back from school.

You're probably right. I'd be willing to bet the police just treat this as a minor traffic accident to avoid him going to court all together.

My guess is he was driving away after a dispute. She hit the rear windshield with the club. That startled him and he crashed the car.

BTW, that transcript is ODDDDDDD. So the neighbor was obviously out at the car as well?

Maybe because people are making unsubstantiated claims left and right. Guarantee he has some lawyer telling him what to do, which can be a good or bad thing. The truth is, nobody knows what happened.

I'm no lawyer, but if nothing happened, I'd argue that coming out and just saying what would happen would put an end to any rumors. What he is doing is just feeding into the unsubstantiated claims. (If something did go down though, I'd be doing what Tiger is doing)

I haven't read every post in this thread, but here is my take. If I repeat what has already been stated I apologize in advance.

Tiger was getting himself some strange. Likely, the Mrs. found out and the two of them got into it. She likely cracked him over the head with a golfclub or maybe there was just a verbal altercation. Tiger took off. The Mrs. was probably standing out there and he swerved to avoid hitting her running into the fire hydrant/tree (she may have even taken the golfclub to the car as he was leaving causing him to not pay attention).

I think Tiger just needs to come clean. I honestly don't think people care anymore about fidelity when it comes to these athletes/entertainers. He will be quickly forgiven. In fact, he will likely gain "street cred" from the african american community (ala Kobe). The only person he needs to fool is the wife and obviously the cat is out of the bag on that one. Tiger may take a hit in endorsement money for a little while, but all will be forgiven and a new line of sponsors will come forward.

I don't mind Tiger keeping it private. We are not entitled to knowing what really happened. Now if Nike or Buick or the PGA calls him, they might be entitled to know. But Tiger is acting under the rights entitled to him and he wants to keep it a private matter.

I don't get why this is such a big deal. He wasn't seriously injured and didn't injure anyone else.

I agree this is a private matter. We all have private family issues and the incident didn't injure anyone physically (albeit "property damage") but that can easily be rectified. The general public is not stupid. We all can pretty much put the pieces of the puzzle together. Under the current circumstances of what happened, the accident in and of itself was relatively minor.
