I think the Browns defense will help them hang around for awhile in this one but our offense will do us no favors. Eventually I think Pittsburgh will pull away.

I'm hoping Big Ben makes a statement in this game and makes the rest of the league take notice that he's back and better than ever. We will see.

I wish the "better game than some people believe" part were true but from what I'm hearing there's a chance Delhomme goes on IR, Wallace can't play and Brett Ratliff will be the starter.
I think our defense can hold it's own, for awhile, but with all of the potential 3 & outs I see them caving eventually. That's not even mentioning the potential points our offense could surrender to Pittsburgh's defense.
With the possibility of a 3rd string QB that just got pulled off another teams practice squad as the starter, this probably won't be pretty. If Wallace is healthy and ready to go, we have a chance.

I'm actually hoping that Ben doesn't come out and try to do too much. That's my fear. We don't need a superhuman effort. Just play the same way he always does and that should be enough help.

Steelers need to win all of their division games.
Ravens already lost to the Bengals so if the Steelers win their division games, including Baltimore the second time, they'll have the tiebreaker.
Josh Cribbs still scares me. He doesn't do that much against other teams but he always seems to make a big play or two against the Steelers.
You also have to think Ben's timing will be off, considering he's playing in his first game while the other players are in their fourth and fifth regular season games.
Ravens already lost to the Bengals so if the Steelers win their division games, including Baltimore the second time, they'll have the tiebreaker.

That's what I'm thinking. Let's be honest: if BR's statement that the Browns might go after Ratliff to be the starter if Wallace can't go turns out to be true, the ONLY way Cleveland can logically win would be if Pittsburgh utterly shits down their leg. There are two things that can make that happen. First, Cribbs bends the team over and porn-fucks them like he seems to do every fucking game. Second, their defense is the best part of their team. If the offensive gameplan is to have Ben make a statement and he's rusty to any degree, that could blow up big-time.
Pass the ball more and be more aggressive, but don't forget that your overall success will be determined by great defense and the ability to control the ball.

The Browns should run the wildcat a lot.
The Steelers usually don't give up much on the ground but in the wildcat it adds an extra blocker which makes it a little easier to run.
The Steelers have been giving up some passing yards but they've basically been playing that way on purpose, forcing the QB to make the 10 to 15 yard sideline throws. Matt Ryan made them but it forced the Falcons to go the length of the field and they stalled and had to kick field goals. Late in the game, Polamalu made the interception. Flacco also had an accurate game and made a lot of those passes and was able to put it in the end zone a couple times to pull out a tight game.
I can't see any of the Browns quarterbacks being able to accurately throw the ball 10 to 15 yards to the sideline, over and over, without making a mistake or the Steelers getting in there to force a mistake.

A lot of Browns fans are saying "put McCoy in 50% of the time and run the Wilcat/Flash with Cribbs 50% of the time." From what I saw last year that was pretty much what I saw last year when the Browns won....50% Cribbs/Wildcat, 50% no QB. I'd think the Steelers would be ready for that plus they didn't exactly have Polamalu or Aaron Smith last year either.

It was a terrible weather game, too. Not to make excuses but that did aid in grounding the Steelers passing game.
But I expect the Browns to go back to the wildcat more in this game than in some of the others. Cribbs has been effective against the Steelers as a return man and on offense. Plus the other quarterbacks are banged up now.

As a Browns fan, we will keep it close for 2-2.5 quarters, but late 3rd or 4th the Steelers will pull away by 2 scores.
I say 24-10 (13-10 at half).

Cribbs has been a thorn in the Steelers side for sure. I expect alot of wildcat Sunday. I do agree with BR that Cribbs hasn't done much since he got paid. I'll hold off on my score until later in the week.

I think Rob Ryan will put a lot of pressure on Ben to see if he can deal with it in his first game back but I think Ben will probably be able to make some plays out of it.
Matt Ryan isn't Roethlisberger in terms of mobility. He looked uncomfortable when he had to fade back and try to spot guys on the run.
If you don't get Ben on the ground and he's able to move around then he can be dangerous.
The Browns defensive backs will have a different test because the Falcons passing game is more standard where as with Ben and the Steelers you have to stick with the receiver on those scramble plays.

Tony Grossi has said for a few weeks now that the Browns special teams are victims of their own success. Other teams special teams units treat the Browns game as their biggest game of the year. You can see teams going to such great lengths to avoid Cribbs on kick-offs.
