AND OUT OF MY PARENTS HOUSE! 8 months of hell is over! I loved the Ohio Valley growing up, but living there these last few months has been difficult. Its refreshing to know I won't have to go back to the hole except for the occasional visit and holidays.

After the last few of deliberation I finally did it. I've been living off and on all summer with a friend in the Upper East Side, but now I'm finally legit and in a lease.

I'm in Astoria/Queens. The area is awesome and affordable compared to Manhattan and other surrounding areas. I won't lie...I'm a bit nervous. I came here with no job, but several solid leads. Am I stupid or ballsy? Time will tell!

Just thought I'd share. Any recommendations for stuff to do, bars, clubs, food joints, JOBS?!

Lots of cute boys in NYC.... i'd recommend going to the bathhouse district. Might meet Woody Allen there... Also, doesn't hurt to contact temp agencies

Good for you. Heard on the radio today that they are expecting one of the biggest crowds ever. Not because of the Clowns but because of Bens return. Good luck in the Big Apple.

Good luck man!

I've had a couple friends make the move to NYC this summer.

I've said it on here before. But it bears repeating. Crocodile Lounge on E 14th (between 1st and 2nd) is the greatest bar I have ever been to! Yuengling on tap...and a free pizza with every drink you order.

Best of luck again. It's a hell of a city. Enjoy it!

Good luck though!

Did we miss your 1hr special on MTV?

"I've decided to take my talents to the Big Apple."

Best of luck. I've always wanted to do that. Never had the cajones.

Make sure they know Ohio is not a "fly-over state" or pushovers.

Also, please spread the word that nobody is impressed when New Yorkers go out of town and have to let everyone know that they're from New York.

Lots of Ohioans here. I noticed a lot of people rockin' OSU gear today in Manhattan.

Mostly for the job opportunities. I have a decent amount of friends here and some solid connections. I also like big cities and not having to deal with a car is really nice.

Congrats! I wish I would have relocated there. Tons of job opportunities and great urban lifestyle. If I were single I probably would have, but the gf isn't into the living without a car or big city atmosphere so we settled on Charlotte. Hope it goes well. I don't think you're crazy for relocating without a job, I did the same thing. Just had to get out of Ohio and my parents house. If you progress naturally as it seems a lot of New Yorkers do then by the time you are in your late 30's early 40's you might be my neighbor down here. It seems like everyone is from either from Ohio or NYC down here.

Congrats on have the guts to roll the dice and making the change. Even if it doesn't work out long-term, the experience will likely be the worth it.

I returned to Ahia (which I swore I'd never do) after living on the East Coast for a few years after college - I've never regretted either move.

Did you have a solid bank account before making the move?

If not, that's even more gutsy..

Sometimes, change is good though.
