The best thing that can happen for Steubenville after a tough loss is to have the opportunity to redeem themselves by beating a higher ranked team the following week.
Without the turn overs Big Red could have beaten Massillon. I think they will beat Ursuline if they avoid turnovers.
In the Massillon game there were two turnovers that prevented them from scoring, and another two turnovers that pretty much gave Massillon two TDs. Take away 14 from Massillon, add 14 to Big Red's score and you have a 21-14 win for Big Red. It was the early turnovers in the Massillon game that put Big Red into a hole that forced them out of their comfort zone and required them to take more risk opening the passing game that eventually added to the turnover deficit and nailed the win for Massillon.
Without a doubt playing a highly ranked team like Ursuline is the best way for Big Red to prove themselves. Playing a non-Ohio team or a week team like Wheeling Park wouldn't prove a thing and only prolong whatever self-confidence issues there may be and fuel the nay sayers arguments.

Go Big Red, Beat Youngstown Ursuline!

Take away the downpour at Harding stadium, so Massillon can utiliuze their speed, and Massillon wins down there last year. See, we can play this game too. With that said, Go Steubenville, Beat the Youngstown All-Stars. The B team that is.

We have no chance this week . Ursulin has supperior character. We lost our big game and now the tents are beginning to fold . The stadium will be empty as we are hung over from the last defeat . Ursulin has suppierior athletes and are will run all over us . They have a stronger line that knows how to play when the sledding gets tough. They have back to back titles and nobody in that division stands a chance . actually nobody in d-4,d-3,d2 could stop them from a title in those classes I dont know how they divided up the talent between them and Mooney but they did . . Another sad day in the ville .The leprachans are going to soil on our beloved stadium and it hurts so bad

What do you mean we have no chance??
Where is your confidence?
You go into a game thinking like that then we (you) have no chance. I sure hope our boy's are not thinking like that!
Our heads are held high, our confidence is up the boys are ready. They know what they are in for and are ready. I have talked to a lot of the players this week and they are psyched!
If our Big Red fans do not show up this week because we lost last week, then there is a problem. Our fans are very wishy washy, (to put it nicely) . Hey, we all want wins but if we don't, then they boycott the next game!. Doesn't seem to me to be true fans. just spoiled !
Just saying what I see all the time. Flame away!

Woulda, coulda, shoulda! Don't dwell in the past. The Tigers gave their coach a great effort. Move on.
Injuries can change the composition of any team; but not the overall character. I am expecting these kids to give a good accounting of themselves tonight. If we lose, I still have the next game to go to.

Cheers.

Open enrollment is far better than when wealthy boosters offered jobs to get families to move to another school just to play football. Some of these younger posters might not like it but open enrollment is what it is; open. Anyway, I don't think they really care, they just like to stir the pot.

Cheers.
I wasn't referring to "oldtimmers" as in age, but in state of mind. We have people who are stuck in the 60's with their mindset that the school districts own every student.

Yet you appear to display the exact same mindset when it comes to private vs. public schools. Those kids aren't "yours" either.

No problem. Oldtimers used in my postings merely refer to "pre-open enrollment". If one takes a tour through history, violations involving student transfers were rampant. Pennsylvania had an age limit of 19 for playing sports. In Ohio, 20 was the limit. You could start the season at 20, but if you turned 21 during the season, you were done.
The way transfers are handled today is under much more scrutiny. I doubt if there is one school district in Ohio, or in the Nation, who's athletes are 100% home grown yet there are very few violations reported. Remember the Wintersville Kid who transferred to Big Red a few years back? The paperwork was not filled out properly. The kid never played one down but we had to forfeit a game that broke our win streak. That hurt; but it was handled properly.
Some of these posters might not care for "open enrollment", but it is better than what went on before it.

Cheers.

To win this game they are going to have to hope the IRISH beat theirselves or its going to be a long night.

Maybe so,but the Irish have only played two games worth anything so far this year!! I am not doubting they are a first rate team, but I believe they will get a better game than they expect!! Big Red is capable of that!!!Will we win? I don't know,I can only cheer my team on and hope for a great game!!! RRR

Say WHAT? Have you not seen how defensive 95% of the Big Red nation get? Obviously, what other people think is VERY important.
