I stop to get gas. There is only one pump at this location and you can pump gas on both sides. When I pull up, there is already a car on one side so I pull up to the other, get out and start pumping gas.

As I'm pumping gas, a truck pulls in and backs up behind me to get gas. The guy in the truck gets out and walks into the store as I'm finishing pumping my gas. I see this so, wanting a coffee, I run into the store to buy one.

As I'm in there getting my coffee, the guy with the truck behind me walks up to the checkout (we're the only two in the store) and says "is that your car at the pump?" I say "yes" and he says "well I have to get to work too" to which I say "no shit, you work too?" because I could tell the guy wanted to be a smart ass.

From there we start verbally going at it back and forth as he's bitching about my "lack of common courtesy" to which I say "if we're BOTH in here, how in the Hell are you going to pump your gas" to which he says "I'll be waiting for you at the pump and you'll be wasting my time" to which I say "no you won't because you're old & slow, I'll pass you before you get to your vehicle and you'll probably die walking to your car of a heart attack from all of those death sticks (he was buying cigarettes & coffee) you've likely been puffing away on." Take into consideration I wouldn't normally talk to someone like this but this dude was a white trash piece of crap and was being a dick about it.

He did get to his vehicle first but by the time he got there the other side of the pump was empty. My question is...with me seeing/knowing he was IN the store AND knowing that the other vehicle had been sitting at the pump BEFORE I even got there, was it a dick move for me not to move my vehicle before running in the store to get coffee? I don't really care if it was a dick move because the guy was an asshole but just want opinions.

not really a dick move if he's not in his car. especially if you dont dick around getting the coffee and dont have to put four types of creamer and then fumble around trying to find your debit card or search in your purse to find four pennies so you can pay with exact change for your 79 cent cup of cofee like happens to me everytime im in a rush....

Got coffee straight out of the machine and had $2 in my hand as I was standing behind him in the checkout WAITING for him to get his cigarettes that the cashier had to pull off the shelf and HE was fiddling around in his pocket for the correct change...

i'm gonna say it before society:

roid rage.

i've actually had similar altercations. people in louisiana are the most impatient drivers you'll ever see and it doesn't stop at the pump. fuck this asshole you're not obligated to move for him until you're done with your WHOLE trip to the gas station.

That had nothing to do with it. I was in a hurry too and when I saw the guy left his vehicle I figured I could scoot in & out and be out of there before he got back to his vehicle. Had he been sitting IN his vehicle, I would have pulled forward.

Are you familiar with the scrawny little guys with the Napolean Complex? Dude also had a Southern drawl which got my blood pressure up a bit because I'm not really a fan of rednecks.

I would have said something like "Well, you should have left a bit earlier, eh?"

It wasn't your fault he didn't leave his home early enough to account for a few minutes setback.

...The guy sounds like a tool, and I have no problem with you running some smack on him. But I most likely would have pulled away from the pumps b/4 going inside seeing as there is only (1) gas pump.

The whole thing about it, to me, was that the guy was just being a dick to be a dick. He wasn't in any hurry. You could tell that by the way he was fiddling around getting his coffee, and then didn't have the right amount of money at the checkout. He was standing there jawing at me for at least two minutes and he hadn't even paid for his stuff and nobody was in line in front of him.

I probably would have moved the car, but the fact that he left his car showed he wasn't in all that much of a hurry!

Yeah, I love when they have 4 employees standing behind the counter with only one working the cash register (there are 2 cash registers for those not familiar with this location) and the line of customers on the open register is 8-10 deep.

That and all the Sebring kids mulling around 24/7. Like, go home and hang out on your porch or couch or something.

There is always a line too.
