1. Atlanta 3-1 (2)...Even though the Falcons were at No. 2 last week, this is far from being clear cut. I do like that they won on the road at New Orleans. And the 49ers were really desperate, that was a good escape win.
2. Baltimore 3-1 (11)...Maybe Jets No. 2 but the Ravens have victories over the Jets and Steelers. It looks like Flacco and the receivers are starting to click. If that continues they'll be a contender.
3. N.Y. Jets 3-1 (5)...The emergence of Sanchez and LT has already sparked the offense and now they add Santonio Holmes.
4. Pittsburgh 3-1 (1)...Frustrating loss to the Ravens but the odds were stacked against the Steelers starting 4-0 without Roethlisberger. As many have stated, they're in a good position.
5. New Orleans 3-1 (3)...Frankly, I'm not all that impressed with the NFC so far. Saints barely snuck by the 49ers and Panthers, two winless teams.
6. New England 3-1 (9)...When you consider some of the young players contributing like Tate, Woodhead, Hernandez, along with an improving defense, the Patriots should not be overlooked.
7. Green Bay 3-1 (7)
8. Houston 3-1 (8)
9. Kansas City 3-0 (12)...I think the Colts will beat the Chiefs this week but for now the Chiefs with a 1.000 winning percentage deserve to be ahead of a .500 Colts team.
10. Indianapolis 2-2 (4)
11. Chicago 3-1 (6)...Lousy effort even before Cutler went down.

This is a mess to sort out from about 12 to 25. A lot of jekyll and hyde teams.

12. Cincinnati 2-2 (10)...Fortunately for the Bengals so many other teams lost right behind them. Also when you have so many teams with identical records I take into account big wins and the Bengals got one against the Ravens.
13. Washington 2-2 (22)...Up and down but 2-0 in the division.
14. Dallas 1-2 (16)...Benefited from not playing.
15. San Diego 2-2 (20)
16. Miami 2-2 (15)
17. Minnesota 1-2 (17)
18. Denver 2-2 (21)...Mixed results but it does seem like you can count on the Broncos competing every week.
19. Tennessee 2-2 (14)
20. Philadelphia 2-2 (13)
21. N.Y. Giants 2-2 (23)
22. Jacksonville 2-2 (25)...Wins over the Broncos and Colts but blowout losses to the Eagles and Chargers.
23. Arizona 2-2 (19)
24. St. Louis 2-2 (27)...The Rams actually are pretty close to being 4-0.
25. Seattle 2-2 (18)...Totally different team at home versus on the road.

26. Tampa Bay 2-1 (24)
27. Cleveland 1-3 (30)
28. Oakland 1-3 (26)

29. Detroit 0-4 (28)
30. San Francisco 0-4 (29)
31. Carolina 0-4 (32)
32. Buffalo 0-4 (31)...Bills slip to the bottom after another drubbing and Carolina's upset bid against New Orleans. The Bills sort of remind me of a football team from a movie. A bunch of no-names thrown together. The whole thing just looks awkward.

With the Colt's shit performance last week they deserve the drop. I can't believe they lost that one.

Ravens too high and I think the Jets are better than Atlanta. I know you have to put them in some order but Atlanta doesn't really impress me.

This may be the homer in me coming out, and I always try to be as objective as possible, but I think the Jets are the best team in the NFL at the moment. What they've been able to do without Holmes on offense is incredible. Adding him this week is only going to make the offense more potent. Sanchez has been perfect this season (8 TDs, 0 turnovers). The defense has also been without Revis a majority of the 4 games and without Pace for all 4. They both come back this week.

How can it be "incredible" what they have done without Holmes? Its not like he has played with them before.

btw....I think he balls out when he comes back.

That's what I was kinda getting at.

Sanchez, who I'm no fan of, has been steadily improving. LT & Greene provide a nice 1-2 punch and Sanchez has a nice target in Keller. Even that drunk, Scissorhands, has been catching the ball. They will be even MORE explosive when Bob Marley (Holmes) returns this week. And their defense doesn't seem to be missing the big man in the middle too much.

I know the Rats may have beaten the Jets but I still think NY is the better team.

If you're gonna say this, how can you not put them #2 behind Pittsburgh? What Pittsburgh has done without roethlisberger is even more incredible than what the jets are doing without Holmes. I mean the Jets still have Braylon. The Steelers have...Charlie Batch?

Divisional game on the road. Always close for Indy. Usually they escape, but not this year. I think the last 4 years of games with Jax have all been extremely close.

Because I think he's going to ball out when he is back. Duh. :)

Obviously adding a guy like Holmes to your offense is going to make it that much better.

The Steelers offense hasn't really been that great. It's the defense that is winning them games. Outside of the Bucs game they haven't put 20 on the board. Sure, Ben is going to improve the offense but I still think the Jets are the better team. The Steelers aren't going to be able to outscore opponents in a shootout. The Jets are.

Sorry buddy..I disagree with ya here. I hate the Steelers so fucking bad, but when Ben comes back they'll be able to outscore opponents in a shootout. They always have before, why shouldn't we believe they can't this year?

I'd easily put the Jets, Steelers and probably the Ravens ahead of the Falcons or any NFC team. Since the Ravens game, the Jets have looked like a juggernaut. If Sanchez does even decent, they're going to be a juggernaut. LT seems rejuvenated, they have a quality receiving group and nasty defense. Pittsburgh only has a last second loss to Baltimore while going with their 3/4 string QBs so far this year. Assuming Ben comes back and performs up to ability, they'll be tough to beat. And Baltimore's beaten both of them.

Those three have impressed me more than anyone in the NFC. Hell, I'd contemplate putting New England ahead of anyone in the NFC, too...but last night's easy win had more to do with crazy special teams breakdowns than anything else.

Do you believe that the Steelers have more offensive weapons (and I don't mean Ben's dangle) than the Jets? Sure, Ben is better than Sanchez but given how Sanchez has played so far the gap isn't that huge between the two right now. Sanchez might still regress but he's shown me nothing so far to make me think he will.

Is there a better set of weapons, top to bottom, in the NFL? Braylon is the third best receiving threat on the team.

Holmes
Keller
Edwards
LT
Brad Smith
Greene
Cotchery
Sanchez

I agree with you. I'd put those three teams at the top. There isn't an NFC team close to them, IMO.

Pitt averaged 23 points last year and 21 the year before. The defense won games not offense.

And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I don't think Pitt is a good team, or even a top 2 or 3 team. Obviously they are. I just think that the Jets have the better overall team, even if it is just barely.

Pittsburgh has some good offensive weapons but not of the same caliber as the Jets. The "cherry" on top of the Jets "sundae" is the fact that Sanchez seems to FINALLY be showing that he can play QB and isn't only a game manager.

HMMMM 12 for the Bengals is a bit strange. I'm a huge Bengal fan but I was thinking more like 15-18 they should be thanking the stars they are 2-2.

Pittsburgh, Baltimore and the Jets are the elite teams. The Jets are starting to look scary good. Sanchez looked awful week one, but has rebounded better than anyone could have predicted. And I agree with the Holmes comments. Dude is a beast and will make them scary on offense, to go along with that great defense (which hasn't even seen Revis play at his elite level yet). They are certainly a team that is set up to improve as the year goes on.
