Talking about everything and nothing is the same thing...just worded differently. (nothing specific)

Please note, that despite our differences in opinion, we have the same goal.
oh, didn't know you could see the numbers....

Not watching numbers...watching how fast new posts and threads come in...thats all. And just because there are a ton of posts doesn't mean much, when hundreds of those posts are due to threads like this one where only a couple people go back and forth.

Okay, so my motives are selfish...I want people to talk to about HS football...and want to do it on this site. The reason I brought this up to begin with is thus...

This week is Northwest vs Louisville in football. Last year and years past, JJ's would have hundreds of posts on this game alone, and from at least 50 different members. We are obviously no where near that on here. I think there are less than 10 members on that thread on here and it is only on page two of the first thread. Where are all of those potential posters? I know for sure they aren't on JJ's nor on Yappi because those threads are doing just as bad.

Can you imagine the number of people and amount of traffic we could get on here if we promoted to HS sports more?

I think the majority of people that came over to this site were actually from the Sports Trivia/Info board and college sports boards. This site at it's foundation was much less geared towards high school sports. We offer that section for people to talk about, but it is not the ultimate purpose of this site. Even how we have the rules set up seems to demonstrate that point. We have a much more casual language policy for the whole board, but we made special rules for the high school section. On the other hand we could have had the same strict language policy with one forum that is relaxed.

Sure, we're all for people talking High School sports if they want to. But that's not what this site is marketed as. It's Ohio Chatter.

So it's not an issue with just this site. Maybe it's just that the number of people that want to talk high school sports on the internet is dwindling. I could see your point if JJs and Yappi are blowing up and we wanted to take some of that traffic from them. But if there's no traffic on the HS sports topics on those sites, and there's none on this site, then it could just be that people have lost interest in it.

Why market this as something that clearly people have a waning interest in?

There will always be an interest in high school sports, and the innternet is looking like teh place to be for discussions regarding the nature and topic. JJhuddle proved that people will go to a site when it's perfect for them to talk high school sports. I just think there is a lot of people looking for another huddle, and not just this state in every other state in the US.

I changed up the meta tags and site description as an experiment to see if it changes the rankings. We'll see what kind of change in traffic it brings.

Hopefully students who are gullible enough to believe I'm a teacher even though I usually am so blitzed I don't even know what country I'm in at any given time.

I completely disagree with this. People aren't on JJ's because they are a bunch of DB's that want to make people pay to post...even if they were given lifetime memberships previously. And Yappi...well, Yappi is Yappi...most people don't like that place because it is full of trolls and rumors. I haven't talked to many people out there that actually LIKE that site. I think that there is still a ton of interest out there, people just don't know where to go.

Thanks Justin.

It isn't that Yappi is full of trolls more than it is all directed toward one little area of the state. If you don't care about private Cincinnati schools and their football teams, there's no point in being there. There's like 3 people who post about the Federal league outside of the Cincy guys.

Why would you do that? LJ himself said, "THIS IS NOT A HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS FORUM". You are going to make him mad.

A great way to increase traffic from the Ohio high school football fan would be to have this site linked from Joe Eitel's website. How difficult would that be to have happen?

Might not be a bad idea. If justin or one of the football mods emailed him and asked him to throw a link up in exchange for justin adding a tab at the top of the football forum, I'd bet he'd be willing.

Well, he's mostly right. ~5% of the total posts on the site are in the HS Football forum. ~10% from the HS forums combined. Still, it's a way to get people here.

I don't mind how people find the site, it's just that the OP has been voicing his opinion that he wants this site to turn into JJHuddle for a while now.

BTW, if you google "Ohio Chat Forum" we don't show up, just an FYI

I don't understand the stigma of "being like JJ Huddle", it was obviously pretty popular, as we were all there posting. Their downfall was pay-to-post, other than that it was pretty damn popular. After reading alot of the stuff in the CFB and Pro Sports forum, it's easy to see why the Huddle had the rules it did. It's all up to Justin to do what he wants, and how much effort he wants to put into growing the site, but saying we don't wanna be like the Huddle is kinda narrow minded, imo.

I am not saying I want the site to turn into JJ Huddle...I am just saying that using HS football as a way to grow the site seems like the best idea...IMO...and for selfish reasons, I want people to talk football with...haha

Just because you don't want to talk about HS football, doesn't mean that it isn't a GREAT way to promote the site to the masses.
