For the most part I don't care as long as it isn't during their work time. I didn't watch the video, were they "drinking beer" or were they drunk? Big difference. Dude having a beer on his break and I do not give one shit about it. Dumb thing to do considerin what could happen if you get caught but I don't care. Getting drunk is a completely different thing all together.

Watch the video. Dudes were getting a 40 and/or two 24 ouncers and pounding them, and a few were passing joints. It is high comedy. Like some kids sneaking candy while their mother is out of the house for 15 minutes.

No big deal? These guys are building automobiles that our families and ourselves ride in that are to be built observing strict safety standards. These guys are also getting high and buzzed on beer then going in where they will be operating or around heavy equiptment and machinery. They could put their lives or the lives of their fellow workers in danger.

Also unless their immediate supervisors are utterly incompetent they were aware of what was going on and looked the other way. There are definitiely some major problems at that particular plant.

Not sure if it is still practiced but I know they use to have beer on tap in the break-room at Anheuser-Busch;)

Someone I used to work with's son got fired from there. Not for drinking on the job, but for drinking Miller on the job. What kind of moron sneaks in a different brand of beer?

I would say their (Chrysler) insurance provider would have a huge say in this one. Where i used to work, you get hurt or cut you piss in a cup.

Love hearing Beer Run playing in that video. LOL!

This is off topic, but how are news stations and TV shows allowed to show people's faces like that without them signing a release? With their reaction to getting caught, I'm sure those guys wouldn't sign a release to have their faces shown in the video. Could that open FOX News up for a lawsuit?

Haha, I bet it is more than "dozens".....That's just the people doing it on breaks at the park. What about everyone ON THE JOB with the 7-11 big gulps with something more than soda in it? A supervisor once told me if they sent home everyone who they thought was drunk and/or drinking on the job they'd shut the plant down every day. Said just about every day a couple of people will toss their cookies from drinking too much.

Is this worse than other jobs? Probably not from a lot of other hourly/blue collar jobs. But if the number is 5% (which doesn't seem unreasonable), that's pretty significant. Hard to believe you can still make a quality product with 5% of your workers drunk and/or high. But, yeah, this investigation is singling out Chrysler for something that is probably not out of the norm vs. other comparable companies/industries.

Reminds me of when I was growing up near Springfield, Ohio. You'd see the Navistar workers parked behind the "County Line Drive-Thru" chugging 40oz bottles of beer or going across the street to the Harvest Inn and downing quite a few.
Occasionally I'd go with my best friend to meet his dad at the Harvest Inn during his lunch break on Fridays to pick up his pay check.

Not a surprise that union ran company is darn near to closing its doors.

You can probably find the same deadbeats at plants all over the country and in other countries too. Stop blowing it out of proportion.

You are blowing this out of proportion by insinuating the type of activity occurring at this plant is typical all over the country and the world. Yes you can find deadbeats, but not typically to the scale seen at this particular plant. I purposefully noted that there are definitely some major problems at this particular plant. I was careful not to label all auto workers or union employees typical of this plants employees.

Unless you find this type of activity acceptable at this plant, how am I blowing this out of proportion?
