I just wanted to let everyone know that you don't want to waste your time watching this show. It's terrible, and Shatner has to be one of the most annoying actors of all time. It's pretty much him saying a bunch of one-liners that aren't even funny.

Is this based off the Twitter account? Cause those are hilarious...but you couldnt really make a show about it.

Yea, the Twitter stuff was hilarious, it just doesn't work as a show, imo.

The show was doomed when it picked Shatner as the dad. He is awful. It would still be bad even if the writing was good.

The perfect actor for the show would've been Kurtwood Smith. He'd make bad writing hilarious with his delivery.

somehow Shatner's unintentionally spasmodic and comedic delivery got confused with actual comedy. I actually think even he appreciates the irony of this. He is the perfect Priceline pitchman because he is able to give a chuckle in a 30 second spot. A 30 minute show?.............umm...

no.

It's actually taken from the premise of a book that the author wrote about his dad...he basically moved back in with his parents at 28 after a really bad breakup with his fiancee, and decided to open up a twitter account to post all the funny shit his dad said on an everyday basis. He had over 10 million followers within like a month I think. The book combines the stuff from that twitter account (present) with all the memories of funny stuff he had with his dad since he was little (past). It's a phenomenal book, and a really quick read...took me about 2 hours to get through the whole thing. The show looks terrible, but I would def recommend the book to any readers out there.

At first, I agreed with this. The show was lame and like aforementioned, a bunch of poorly delivered (and written) on liners. But as the show went on I laughed a few times. Overall, I thought it was around a "C."

So I wouldn't not recommend it....but then again, seeing as it was the premiere, and you usually want to knock people's socks of with the premiere....maybe it isn't worth watching again....

They already made fun of this show on Community last night. Troy had set up a Twitter account called WhiteManSays and tweeted all of the dumb things that Chevy Chase's character said. Once Pierce found out that he was White Man he got upset until he realized there were 600,000 followers. They then discussed the possibility of turning it into a TV show but decided it was a stupid idea. I thought the whole scene was hilarious!

Yep I dvr'd the first episode and watched it last night. It was flat out terrible. The entire thing was 1 liners. When 1 liners aren't funny and they bring in canned laughter...well you have to love that.

Does that mean you're not going to give him a point like I told you to a bit ago? Damn... :(

As for the show sucking, no surprise. When I saw a commercial for it last Sunday, I was pretty much like, "WTF? What's next, a sitcom based on Mantooth's FB relationship with Rosie Palmer?"

A sitcom about my shenanigans would be quite eventful to say the least. Not sure it could be on network tv though...probably more of a Showtime or HBO show.

I laughed when the CBS Sunday football commentators had to do a spot for the show and called it "bleep my dad says." (actually said "bleep")

It was soo awkward.
