I have a bunch of older computer parts. What's the best way to get rid of them? I called a local computer store that sells used RAM and they told me they would give me a free quote, but without shopping around a lot I'm not sure if they are giving me a good price or not. (I found some online places too, but I would have to ship it to them first and if I end up sending this crap all over I might as well of just thrown it in the trash in the first place.) I also have a bunch of HP MUX boards that I found on ebay for $30-$40 but nobody is bidding on them. Is there a good place to get rid of all this stuff?

I know I could do my own research but I thought maybe someone here could point me in the right direction and save me a little time.

Why not take them to that store and get a quote? If you don't think they give you a fair offer, then try another place?

Do people lack common sense?

Lol, the parts have some value, just not a lot. I have 200-300 pieces of RAM and they already told me they wouldn't take any desktop memory that was 128M or smaller. Some of it is 256M - 512M. There's also some laptop memory in there. I think I'm going to let them go ahead and go through them and see what I can get for that.

I have no idea how to get rid of the MUX cards though without just putting it on ebay and seeing what happens.

You could always google "best way to get rid of old computer parts" and see what you find. If you don't like the first site then just go back and try the second one.

Do people lack common sense? Answer...yes you do.

Common sense = not posting on a thread if you have nothing worthwhile to contribute.

Anyone who actually read the OP would understand that he knows he could do his own research (i.e. Google), however was probably interested if someone had done this recently, possibly locally, and what steps they took.

In certain situations, I find asking and interacting with forum members on various sites to be much more useful than a google search.

Look on Amazon and eBay and see what similar pieces are going for. I've sold some computer parts on Amazon and got decent money for them.

My buddy needed my RAM though, so I just traded him a case of beer for it.
