I really only saw replays of the force out and it is a 50/50 call. He was touched and forced towards the sidelines, but do I know if it was enough to force him out? I dunno. that's a judgement call.LJ;490127 wrote:I didn't see the other 2, so I can;t comment.
Get me a video of the block in the back and i will comment. Different crews all call that differently. I watched some lame game yesterday where a defender just got BLASTED in the back in front of a ref and it wasn't called.

I'm not going looking for a video of it. All I know is Lo Wood (#23 for ND) didn't even touch the MSU player on the punt return. He ran up to him and saw his back turned to him and then did nothing more than throw his arms up as if to say "I didn't touch him"......and then they flag him. Complete bullshit. The game tying TD was reviewed on College Football Final and Rece Davis and Mark May said the receiver went out of bounds on his own so it should not have counted. They were right after seeing the replay. Two big blown calls.

The worst part about the block in the back was the fact that the ref right on top of the play didn't throw the flag. The flag came in way late all the way from the sidelines.
But again, ND shouldn't have been in a position where those calls cost them the game. At least, that's what Bucci always said at Mooney.

This is where I'm at with the whole thing. OSU didn't play well enough against Purdue last year when a blown call could have won them the game, likewise with the Irish last night. You just have to move on I guess.sherm03;490201 wrote:

Proximity on the field does not indicate which official is looking at which blocks.

I get that. NOTHING can change the result now. I guess the thing is.....I'll never be convinced that ND didn't get screwed last night but they could've played better to avoid that and it's a loss and it's not going to be overturned. It's over and done with....but I can't be convinced that the correct calls were made on those 3 plays. Whatever. It's Stanford week.

I agree with you killer. Those three calls were complete bullshit and I don't care what the Big East officials have said. They got boned, but we can't change that. Let's hope we can get a Stanford upset!

Maybe said official should be in proper position to look at blocks instead of assuming there was contact when he was completely blocked out?

ewok, I think you need to take solace in the assumption that it may not be their last loss and it wasn't their first. They're better I believe but Rome wasn't built in a day. The Purdue loss hurt us worse, we might have been going to the title game had that not happened. It could be worse. All perspective I guess.

I'd rather see the video. If it was a missed call then I will when Terry McCauley sends out the big east officiating video for the week.

about the 9:40 mark
The back judge is looking directly at the play, doesn't throw the flag, it comes from behind the play.

Thanks, Ytown. Good point. Seriously.

Then look it up or watch the replay of the game on the Big Ten Network. I'm not wasting my time looking for a bad block in the back call on youtube that I probably won't be able to find. I know what I saw. Whether you know/believe it or not....I really don't care.

Wrong call but it is easy to see why it was called.

Easy to see why it was called if the official is out of position. I'm sure sonofanump will tell us that officials never assume something happens.

Thank you for the video. That is correct, it is not the backjudges call it is the fieldjudges man. The backjudge would have the receiver for fair catch and possession then take action in the direction that the runner is going towards. I would like to see a different angle to see that no contact is made (appears that contact might be minimal), but when a blocker puts his hands towards the "defender" his goes the same direction that you have your hands moving towards and then puts his hands up like "I did not do anything" then you draw attention that a possible foul occurred.karen lotz;490263 wrote:http://www.und.com/allaccess/?media=195931

What time is the receiver out of bounds play?

i mean it isn't like that nothing that could possibly look like a block in the back occurred happened.

I agree that it can look like that, especially with the MSU player diving in the direction he would have been "pushed"

That was from a 20 minute interview with Kelly. I just happened to see that clip thrown in there when I was watching it. Kelly didn't say anything about that call other than you can't put yourself in that position. There isn't any video of the WR out of bounds play in that link.
