Janish's good hustle play takes the RBI opportunity right away from Hanigan. Homer's AB last time, resulting in a 3-2 liner to right, set the model for the Reds this inning to go the other way and get to Maholm.

If Cabrera can play once a week and spell Janish, the Reds will be in good shape at SS, barring injury.

You gotta at least send him part way regardless.

Tabata responds to the 3-spot by the Reds with a lead-off hit. Lets see if Homer can hold the lead this inning thru the meat of the Pirates order.

Is Speier coaching 3rd? I thought he was Dusty's bench coach.

Homer does the job by retiring the 3,4,5 hitters and is thru 4 innings with 63 pitches. He might be able to make 7 innings with good pitch efficiency and minimal runs allowed with the Reds adding to the lead.

The wrong call of out at 2nd on the Cedeno SB attempt took the Pirates out of the 5th inning!

And saved several pitches - Bailey now with 79. He had 75 and didn't have an out yet in the 5th.

Bob Davidson really helping out Homer and Hanigan on those out calls on steal attempts. This last one on McCutchen was much closer, but still wrong!

Hanigan 3/3 in OB%, but no RBI and no runs scored with Homer batting behind him.
