I'm hoping for a sweep of the Pirates and 3 of 4 from the Diamondbacks. That would really put some pressure on the Cardinals.

I have good friends who are Reds fans. With my Low-rates being craptastic again this year and the Reds having the potential to actually do something, I've been sort of cheering for them, like I did in college when I had Indian-fan friends and they went to the World Series in '95. So, I'm glad that I will (at most) catch one game of this series with them. The way the Reds have been slumping, they won't take kindly to me saying pro-pirate-propaganda, but there's no way I can cheer against my team.

With that said, you have tomorrow's game. Maholm has sucked worse than normal recently and, while Bailey has been a very sub-par MLB pitcher so far in his career, against my team he looks like the bestestestest pitcher who ever pitched a game anywhere in one gazillion multiverses.

A sweep here would be huge. If they lose this series I'll start to worry.

Oh well, better enjoy my last month or two of cheering for the Reds.

I dunno, Walt Jocketty seems to have a hard-on for all things that were his in St. Louis.

It WOULD be a gigantic "fuck you" to Scott Rolen, especially after he accepted less money to re-sign with the Reds.

I was planning on getting season tickets for next year, but if LaRussa is anywhere near the home dugout in GABP I will not be attending any games next year.

I'm saying that buying them puts the jinx on......I'm too skeptical to buy them before it's clinched.....and if that's too late....well so be it.

I'm an eency bit superstitious. lol

Things that amuse me: Yahoo's Tim Brown does MLB power rankings here and there that usually resembles something you'd read in The Onion. Dude got two good shots in on the Pirates that brought the lulz.
23. Washington Nationals (60-80; Previous: 23) – Marquis beats Pirates’ Morton in battle of one-game winners. It’s the sort of riveting baseball that’s keeping baseball alive in Pittsburgh.
30. Pittsburgh Pirates (47-92; Previous: 30) – Pirates’ run of losing seasons turns 18, becomes a man. An ugly, lazy, shifty, good-for-nothing man. But, a man nonetheless.
But not as good as Cincinnati's.
8. Cincinnati Reds (79-61; Previous: 8) – Chapman pitch clocked at 104. We assume the last thing that went that fast in Cincinnati had a Bengal behind the wheel and contraband in the ashtray.

Pirates are 3-0 vs the Reds thsi year when Maholm starts.

Again...he's not a strikeout pitcher....they must make him work! His last visit to Cincy he went 7 innings on 89 pitches and gave up nothing....and of course lost.

Reds Lineup:

Phillips 4
Heisey 9
Votto 3
Rolen 5
Gomes 7
Stubbs 8
Janish 6
Hanigan 2
Bailey 1

Still no Jay Bruce...... I wonder if the Reds are wishing they never made that Dickerson for Edmonds trade now

Dickerson is pretty injury prone, especially for the younger age he is.

Volquez is scheduled to start on Saturday & no word on Harang's status yet, But hopefully he don't pitch again for the Reds.....

Mike Leake and Jim Edmonds have been activated from the disabled list.

I wonder what they would be like with Josh Hamilton in CF.....of course he'd have to bat 5th because of the lefty/right/lefty rule in the middle of the lineup

I guess Dusty really felt strong about Stubbs swinging it better than Phillips right now

I'm thinking that some playoff games may start in GABP and they still won't be sold out!

I remember the good ol' days when the ONLY player who'd get that sort of treatment from you was Teh Harang.
