It's still early in the season, but he been struggling and not living up to his ability. What must he do better?

He needs to stop putting so much pressure on himself. I guess it wouldn't hurt to shoot the rock better as well.

He has a ton of talent. I remember seeing him when he played against my highschool a few years back...

He started out slow, but the second half was all Buford.

I think he'll get it together.

I mentioned on another thread that he kind of reminds me of Daequon Cook. Tons of Potential, but can't put it quite together as of yet. I too think he will get better. What he needs to improve on the most is taking better shots and better defense. Go with the flow of the game instead of forcing things to happen.

He better find it quick or Mr. Simmons may have his starting spot soon.

Stop worrying about the NBA and scouts and just play his game. He is OSU's most consistent shooter (I love Diebler but he is streaky) but I agree with the comment above, he is putting so much pressure on himself that it seems it is affecting his play. Right now I just don't believe he is out for what is best for the team, he is out for a 1st round guarantee.

Stop shooting the damn rock immediately when you get it. Look for some better shots and distribute the basketball. He couldn't throw it in the fuckin' ocean right now

Most players experience a shooting slump from time to time. I hope Buford improves his shot selection and breaks out of this slump.OSU needs his offense on a consistent basis in order to beat good teams.

Buford is a heck of an athlete. He's been in a slump lately but I believe he'll get it together and prove why he was the Big Ten freshman of the year last year.

Simmons has showed much improvement from last year, IMO.

And, i'm not going to worry about Buford yet, way to early to start the "what the hell is wrong with Buford" threads.

Same with the idiotic Diebler haters. Relax.

he's completely one dimensional. No handle. No ability to put it on the deck and get to the hole. No ability to score down low. No ability to create for others. No defense.

all he can do is shoot. or maybe that's all he wants to do? either way, its not enough for anyone to be talking NBA.

it's not like the rest of his game is just a little behind his shooting. The rest of his game is non-existant!!

Buford with another cold night shooting against Florida State. Was 1-12 at one point. Jermie Simmons had a pretty decent game. Matta has shown in the past to bench a cold hand. People forget Ron Lewis was benched for Daequon Cook for a game in 2007. When Diebler was shooting cold as a freshman, Evan Turner took over his starting position (It's hard to believe Turner was on the bench for Diebler at one point in their careers lol). Lauderdale took B.J. Mullen starting job early last year. So do Matta now bench Buford for Simmons?

Very dumb, Simmons tonight.... 14 points, 2 steals, 1 assist, 1 rebound, zero turnovers, in less than a half.

Sit Buford, start Simmons, let Buford watch others play the game correctly, bring Buford off the bench until he understands.

I think the confidence just isn't entirely there with Buford right now. He still has a world of talent and when on his game is arguably the most all-around player on the team, but the way a lot of his shots were short tonight shows that he does not completely trust himself at this time. He just needs to get to the bucket a few times and get acclimated into the game.

It's hard to believe you are so unknowledgeable. Have you not watched games??? Do you not know how important Diebler is to this team? LOL

Right now, Buford needs to simply be on a short leash. Simmons is shooting the ball well and showing the ability to have a great point/minute ratio. I understand he's a shooter, but when he's in an extended slump like this, him taking a lot of shots isn't helping anything. I'm pleased as hell tonight's game went so well, considering at one point he was 1-12 from the field. You can't allow ANYONE to be able to have that poor of a showing. At some point, you have to say, "This crap is hurting the team...time to make a change."

It would be one thing if he was missing all wide open shots, but he is taking so many contested shots that it is hard to defend his shooting.

What makes Turner a special player is that he lets the game comes to him. He hardly forces anything. Buford is the complete opposite. He takes a bunch of bad shots. Is he playing for the team or playing to make the league? He need to start playing for the team because he won't be a NBA draft pick after this season.

This guy has really gotten worse, he also has some really bad baody language. Hopefully Thad can real him in or he is the type of kid that will be a cancer to the team.
