Dude come on. Yeah, most middle of the pack and lower end BCS teams could beat most WAC teams. But that doesn't mean that it is a battle week in and week out in BCS conference play for national championship contenders. OSU isn't tested every week in the Big 10 and that is a fact. They can rest their starters against a good bit of teams in the league and coast just fine. The starters routinely sit out the 4th quarter in games against Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Michigan State, Northwestern (I know its a program on the rise, but OSU still smacks them around most years they play), Purdue (I know they beat OSU last year, but that was about as flukish as you can get...and Purdue went 1-1 against the MAC last year fyi). The only conference games OSU really needs to crack down in are Iowa, Wisky, Penn State, and Michigan (even when they are down, you know its a rivalry game and Michigan will go all in).
Really the only argument (and I can see the point you guys bring up, I really can) is that Boise State has less opportunities to trip up in conference play than a team like OSU or Texas or Florida or Bama or whoever else. But is that really a good reason to automatically disqualify them from the NC game? Shouldn't the NC game be about getting the two best teams on the field? Boise sure has looked like they are one of the best teams in the nation. If they win out, I think we should reward them as such. That is the difference between the Baylors and Vandys of the world and the likes of Boise State, Utah, and TCU. Yes, Baylor and Vandy may fare well in the WAC or MWC or Sun Belt. But they would still get smacked around like rag-dolls by the non-conference BCS teams they play, much like they do now. When is the last time a Baylor or Vandy beat an Alabama, Oregon, Oklahoma, Virginia Tech, or similar team? Meanwhile Boise State, Utah, and TCU routinely beat the pants off of the BCS conference teams they play. These teams have established a certain level of success over the past few years, its not like they are coming out of complete nowhere and expecting to get respect. And like I said, its not like the whole "this team is deserving because they were tested a couple of times a year in their conference" method has been foolproof. There have been some BCS NC games that have been completely lopsided where one team looked like it had no business being there whatsoever, despite having played a "tough" schedule to get there.
