Pretty big result for OSU. Didn't see the game, but to score two on Akron especially one in the final seconds is unheard of.

Anyone interested in following the Zips Soccer team more should check out my site http://www.AkronSportsNOW.com. We cover the Zips soccer team pretty well and travel to ALL away games. The Zips take on Oakland University today in Michigan for anyone interested.
btw, it's awesome to see such a long thread about the team on a page other than Zipsnation.org. Kudos to you guys.

Akron's guy dribbled into the box and in the course of taking on two defenders either tripped or was tripped. It wasn't like a massive foul in the box and no card was given (or should have been). I'd say a light foul compared to what usually gets PKs but it was a foul in the box and as such it was a good call for the PK. Goalie actually was kind of close to stopping it too.
As for the cameraman, the only thing I can think of to excuse it is that he had trouble with all the people around. The stands were packed.

Gotcha. I was just doing PxP for the girls district final. There were a few chances for some PKs to be called, but they werent. I hate PKs, but if they are warranted, they need to be called.

Cleveland State has a game against #9 Butler next I believe and then they have the Horizon League tournament. If they manage to win that then they get to go to the NCAA tournament.Pick6;539725 wrote:I dont know much about soccer and how the tournament works...but is cleveland state competing in the cup?

Akron should be able to get the win. Although teams have been able to score on them a bit more of late. If you're physical with them and make some good plays on defense you can definitely compete with them.
Sort of related: Cleveland State ended up tying Butler who was I believe ranked #6 at the time. They eventually met again in the horizon league tournament and CSU was winning 1-0 until 14 minutes to go. They then gave up another goal with 40 seconds left to lose 2-1. They played pretty well down the stretch.

If Akron lets Will Bruin get going up top and gives him space IU could pull the upset. I doubt it happens though. Akron should win.
This is a great second (or 3rd) round match-up though. IU plays one of the top schedules every year and this season they have fared either exceptional or dismal in those games. Akron is, imo, the best team in the country, so this could be a blow-out or IU could hang and win.
