Michigan - crossover

I found the 2011 and 2012 schedules to find the other two cross over games and we have MSU and Nebraska (bigten.org)

So as of now that means next year we have Miami, Colorado and Nebraska? I've got to think that somehow we'll buy our way out of the Colorado game. No way we'll play 3 "real" non-conference D1's in the same season.

Isn't OSU paying Colorado 1.3 million to come to the Shoe? I don't see them buying out that one

I'm just busting your chops, I know what you meant.

Honestly the whole "our rivalry is bigger" is really just as stupid as the whole "my conference is better" thing. Who gives a flying fuck? Seriously? Does it really matter? All that matters to me is who Ohio State (or Florida) plays, hopefully we win, and we beat Michigan and Penn State (or Georgia and Florida State).

Other than that, all other rivalries and conferences can kiss my ass.

BTW, is anyone else realllllly excited we added Nebraska? It didn't really set it until I saw them on the schedule, and even then it won't set in until game week.

The Big 10 laid out the welcome mat for Nebraska.

Divisional games + cross division games are Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Penn State.

So curious to hear Buckeye opinions now. Do you like the setup?

Also, on the local radio hear they were running down the "winners" and "losers" of the split. Curious as to how you guys see it.

I can't really think of any losers. It will definitely make the conference better by adding Nebraska. There will be more money to be made via the BTN. Nebraska got pretty roughed up with their schedule, but just consider it an initiation fee. I feel bad for Wisconsin because they didn't make it into the division with Iowa, Minnesota, and Nebraska. They were REALLY trying to get a season ending, yearly, rivalry going with Nebraska.

Initially, I was against Nebraska coming in., Then, it grew on me. Now, after tonight, I like it.
I like the breakdown even if OSU and Michigan can play twice, but the game is still at the same time.
Nebraska's schedule is tough next year, back to back @Wisconsin and then OSU. They also play Penn St and Iowa. Ouch. Welcome to the Big Ten.
Michigan St's is just as brutal. Michigan, OSU, Wisconsin and Nebraska all in a row. Ouch.

I am excited OSU goes to Nebraska in Oct. next year. It's going to be awesome. I work with a guy who went to Nebraska and he is really excited about being in the Big Ten and playing OSU, Wisconsin, Iowa and Penn St.

Yeah, that's a really neat trip. I dunno who it would be, but i bet the trip to nebraska keeps a jr thinking about going pro.

Just saying, I'm hanging with Wisconsin fans - they don't feel OSU/Michigan is bigger and more important than Wisconsin/Iowa. Why would Indiana or Purdue fans be any different?

I do see where that line about Wisconsin may have been taken out of context since he was talking about national broadcasts, but still, add that with the last line and I'll maintain that OSU/Michigan isn't as important to other fans as you guys sometimes like to think. Yes, it gets the press. Yes, it usually has more of an impact on the conference and national title scenes. But the response that I quoted was a direct response to Person A's statement that fans of other teams see their own rivalries as more important. And that is true, regardless of what someone on TV is talking about.
Thank you. Someone understands what I was saying. You must not bleed scarlet and gray.

If Bo Pellini can find a way to generate some offense to match some pretty damn fine defenses Nebraska will be a tough friggin game annually. Actually love them in conference.

I think the Big 10 did their due diligence and put forth a very solid conference. Gonna take awhile to get all the tie breakers and subtle nuances down pat but from watching the breakdown it is pretty clear they put a lot of thought into what they were bringing forth. The fact that all AD's were unanimous in their voting means at least the majority of their (each) concerns were met.

Unlike some on here I've seen post, I don't think this hurts the conference's chances in putting multiple teams in the BCS either. I think that it will be static short term, and actually be better if the conference continues to improve.

I would like to see the championship game played at Lucas Oil every year. Yeah outdoors is where the game should be played, but the winner won't be playing in crap for the bowl game upcoming, neither should the championship game.

I think the Penn State vs. Nebraska is simply awesome. Two of college football's greatest and most historic programs going at it annually. Fuck yes.

1920: Penn State 20-0
1949: Penn State 22-7
1950: Nebraska 19-0
1951: Penn State 15-7
1952: Penn State 10-0
1958: Nebraska 14-7
1979: Nebraska 42-17
1980: Nebraska 21-7
1981: Penn State 30-24
1982: Penn State 27-24
1983: Nebraska 44-6
2002: Penn State 40-7
2003: Nebraska 18-10

7-6 Penn State all-time. That's the kind of record you want when forging a rivalry, wouldn't want it to be lopsided. This game is going to be slick.

I like the fact they didnt do this geographically because Nebraska would just step in and punk the west if it were east and west. Only because Nebraska is back on top with a good coach from Y.Town Ohio . although Iowa is not bad these days . That will be a nice rivalry .
MICHIGAN BACT TO BACK INTERESTING ALTHOUGH THE WINNER OF THAT GAME AT THE END OF THE SEASON COULD PUT THE OTHER TEAM OUT OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME .

I remember when we were talking about alignment a couple weeks ago. I kind of thought they were going to go non-geographical. I liked the division names I came up with Tradition and Excellence.

Absolutely....It's not really a new rivalry either. They're simply sealing the deal in-conference.

I'm liking the new divisional line-up's with the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions in the same division and the possibility the Bucks can kick Meatchicken's ass not once but twice a year!

from an outsider perspective, it seems as if the big ten didn't deem iowa and wisconsin important enough to keep. it sucks because as they were usually pretty good games to end their respective seasons
