I personally have never went to a movie by myself. Unfortunately I'm too self-conscious and would feel like awkward sitting there alone the whole time. On the other hand, I don't pay attention to who's sitting with who or ever take notice to people sitting alone, so it probably isn't that big of a deal.
I hardly ever go to the movies anymore. It's just too difficult matching up interests, times, location, etc. with other people to ever meet up and watch one.

Several times. I love it. Its great to go with friends, but I live in an extremely rural area and the nearest theater is about 70 miles away, so I often run over alone to watch a film. A couple of times I have been the only person in the theater, and I love that. You can do whatever the hell you want and there is no one around to bother you.

Yes. No one gives a shit if you do. Just like no one gives a shit if you go to a restaurant alone. Like if I have a break from work or school and no one is around I'll still go and eat something and not feel weird about it. For some reason a lot of people do.

If you want to see a movie go see it. If you can get friends to go excellent, if not who cares?

I prefer going to the movies by myself. I can enjoy them easier, w/o someone sitting next to me asking me whats going on the entire time.

I went and saw Zombieland by myself because my girlfriend didn't want to see it. Had a great time. I don't see anything wrong with going by yourself.

I saw King Kong by myself. I think that's the only one. I'd have no issue doing it again.

I saw The Hangover on my own the first time I saw it in theaters. I'm not a huge fan of going on my own, but am not mortally opposed either.

Yes, better that way. Can't stand having people talking to me while I'm trying to watch a movie.

Never have, but only attend 2-3 a year on average anyway.

When I traveled a lot on business, I had no problem taking in sporting events by myself

I do that all the time. I live about 3 blocks from a theater,so whenever I get bored...I just wander on over.

i usually go see movies i really actually want to see (most "nerd" movies, comic book movies/so on). hit up the mid afternoon viewing, sometimes cheaper and usually no one in the theatre but other nerds.

i dont like eating alone in a restaurant though, only time it usually happens is if im traveling by myself.

I travel alot. So eat at restaurants and go to the movies (and sporting events) by myself often. Nothing wrong with it. And as mentioned, I prefer seeing movies by myself. Nobody to bother you. No discussion on which movie to see. And you always get to see the movie you want to see.

Aside from the Bexley Art Theater... :)

Use to do it all the time when I was a road warrior - I'd be in some city or town in the Northeast or the Southwestern states for a week at time with nothing to do in my off hours. I must say I would get some puzzled looks when some dammyankee punk showed up alone for the afternoon matinee at a small town theater in, say, Texarkana.

Yes I have and it doesn't bother me either way. If there is a movie I want to see and no one is available to go see it with me then I'll go see it alone.

Yes, I've been to a couple of movies by myself.

The last time was last summer when I needed some alone time.

Haven't recently, but often did when I lived in NY and before I got married, usually because friends couldn't make it because they had to work late...no reason for me to waste a 10 block walk or subway trip.

Love going to the movies alone. Prefer the company. No problem eating alone either. Heck, I've even taken long weekend mini-vacations by myself. It's nice just doing whatever I please, staying out however long I want without having to coordinate with others.

i've never gone to the theater by myself. I haven't even really been to the movies for a while, the last one I saw was Grown Ups and I came away fairly disappointed

First time I did was when my sister was working at the Theater and my mom dropped me off and I watched Sixth Sense. Then I did it again for Live Free or Die Hard because I was bored. It's like eating alone, I don't really care.
