Should be a very competitive game. Dover has struggled a little offensively in week 1 the last 3-4 years in their series with Canton South. I am sure some of that had to do with the athletes South had, especially in the defensive backfield, but some also comes from the timing required in the passing game Dover uses.

The Tornadoes will have a new QB, maybe a couple guys will get some time at that position. Swinderman (jr.) is about 6'2"/6'3" with a big arm. I believe he is who everyone is expecting to take the bulk of the snaps. I have heard that Ifft (sr) may also get some time behind center, but I guess we will find out soon enough. Hopefully Keith Johnson (sr) will get plenty of touches out of the backfield early on while the new signal callers gain experience. He definitely has the size and speed to be a dominate back this year. Colton Zahner (sr) also returns as the leading WR from last year, he also has great size and athleticism. They did lose a lot of talent and leadership from last year, but they always seem to have new guys step in and fill those roles. The line has some talented kids, but will be relatively young and inexperienced on the varsity level.

This game against Carrollton will be very important as they will then travel to Ashland, host Canfield and travel to Tr-Valley in weeks 2-4. All likely playoff teams.

Ok I will bite. Dover won't struggle against Carrollton and will win big. Not what you wanted to hear but that's the way I see it.

I want to hear everyone's opinion even though I don't agree with you.

I don't like it either but it is what it is. I would be very surprised Dover doesn't win by a couple of TD's.

I hope this thread is not an indication of the inactivity on here for T-County football. I might be forced to go back and see what's happening on that other huddle. Gosh I don't want to do that but this is sad.

Admittedly I know little about this years team, only that Swinderman looked good in games he played in mop up time. I will have more insight after week one.

We were all here last year. The huddle cut most people of the Tuesday before wk 1's games.
I surfed around and that site too is a shell of what it used to be however it appears it is just the Dover,Steubenville and ecol crowd that is gone. Course the Sports/Trivia forum is still dead. I hope people come back.

Went and watched the scrimmage last night. Left after the 1st teams were done.

Swinderman looked pretty good at QB. Has a big arm and seemed fairly accurate. What surprised me most was how well he moved out of the pocket and when making some plays on QB draws. On his TD run of about 30 yards he bounced it outside and was able to beat a couple guys to the corner. I would also say he is a legit 6'3". He will put up some big numbers the next 2 years in Dover's offense. Zahner at WR is their best weapon. He is about 6'2" with some speed. he is able to stretch the field, but I would say his strength is running with the ball after the catch, either on the screens they run or on curls/slants. The DB's better be ready to wrap him up or get some help from the safety. Maholm and Evans are also threats at WR. There are a couple sophomore's that saw PT that have potential, but didn't get the ball thrown their way. I thought the O-Line did a good job of keeping the pressure off the QB, and opening up holes when they ran the ball inside the 10. Keith Johnson could probably go for 1,000 yards if they would run the football.

The D started slow. The first 2 drives there were big holes and they didn't tackle all that well. As the half went along they started to make some plays at and behind the LOS. I wouldn't be surprised if Dover is in some shootouts early, but there is some talent on D and if they take some momentum from the last few series they should be OK. As has been the case since Dover moved to the spread O, if the D can hold teams to under 21 points, they will win most games.

Carrollton will have to improve their defense before next Thursday. At the Salem - Carrollton scrimmage last night Toothman was able to do just about anything he wanted.

Don't. There's no one over there either. Eight years of gearing up for the high school football season by posting and reading jj huddle kinda grows on you. I'm lost. The worst part is I don't get to learn about all the teams and who has what. This really kinda depresses me. I don't know about anyone else but I looked forward to it. Oh well I guess it is what it is.
