You won't be able to do that on any phone at Verizon. At least not until LTE is rolled out. And I'm pretty sure it's the same way at Sprint.

Seriously though, if you are definite on leaving AT$T, Sprint will most likely save you the most $ while giving you a very good selection of phones.
69.99 gets you unlimited mobile to mobile no matter the network, unlimited data, unlimited text, and 450 monthly minutes for those times you need to call a landline or whatever.
Plus, after 6 months you become a "Premiere customer" which starts getting you YEARLY upgrades at the 2 year discount.
With that said, if you got the EVO now, the EVO 2 is rumored to be out by Q1 of next year.

Nor would I take an IPhone over an Evo or X....they are better phones, especially if you are a bit tech savvy as you seem to be. Motorola is supposed to have a monster or two out later in Q4 and/or Q1. If you don't want to wait that long the Evo or X is probably your best bet, possibly the Samsung Fascinate. I don't think Moto will have anything out until October or November.

The first part is identical to VZW's plan - 39.99 a month for 450 minutes and free VZW to VZW, another $30 for unlimited data, and you can get unlimited free texts with Google Voice which forwards and works thru gmail (over data) if you choose - granted it requires texting your google number, which can also be used as your standard number (forwards to your cell automatically) if you choose. Not necessarily a great option for someone looking to port their number.hoops23;454726 wrote: 69.99 gets you unlimited mobile to mobile no matter the network, unlimited data, unlimited text, and 450 monthly minutes for those times you need to call a landline or whatever.

The second one, VZW offers 1 year early upgrades for $50 more, normally than the 2 yr discount (sometimes it's the same price).
If it were me, I'd first decide what service will work for me. A lot of people have problems with Sprint, occasionally people don't have much luck with VZW. I already have a smartphone, but even if I didn't I'd figure out if LTE or 4G is coming to my area any time soon and then I'd get a 4G/LTE capable phone if it was.

The Droid 2 does look pretty cool, but like Justin, I'm against the sliding keyboard. Just too much stuff there than can go wrong.
It's actually kind of nice. 99% of people haven't had any issue with the keyboard. But many now are using Swype (I think this is standard on new Droids now) and have no interest in another phone with a physical keyboard. Swype is almost as fast as a standard computer keyboard, and the more powerful phones combined with software improvements are going to have people using voice-to-text anyway. Games are the only real reason to have a physical keyboard any more.

I'm digging my Incredible. Keyboard...who needs that when you have the voice into text option. But this is my first ever smartphone so anything was an upgrade for me.

Love the Incredible for Verizon, but if you are staying with ATT....those Samsung Galaxy S phones get pretty good reviews.

Our current plan is a family share with AT&T. I believe it's 450 minutes. I have the $15/mo data plan. I think our total bill is just under $100/mo.
What kind of family plans do Vzw and Sprint have? My wife currently does not have a smart phone but she will be getting one this time around. I assume there is not a discount with two data packages on the same plan.

Like someone said before...Sprint is the MUCH cheaper option. Sprint will give you 1500 minutes to share, unlimited mobile to mobile to any network on both phones, nights starting at 7, unlimited data, and unlimited texts for $129.99.
I'm not 100% sure of the Verizon family plans...but I know it will be more than the $129.99 tag.

Is 1500 the smallest number of minutes? We use way less than we currently have and I think we only get 450.

My contract with ATT just ended, so I'm looking into signing a new one with somebody. I've been doing some research. I'll need a family plan with 3 people on it. I definitely want a smartphone, with some texting and data. The other two lines don't need any of that and don't need a smartphone. ATT is a bit cheaper at $99 per month for what I want. Verizon is a bit more at $115 per month. I get 150 more minutes (550 vs 700) and 50 more texts (200 vs 250) with Verizon, than ATT. My old bills were just around $100 every month. I'd like to stay right around that amount again. I want to get rid of the unlimited text and go around 200 ish, but want to pick up a data plan to surf the web. When it comes to phones, I'm not very well informed. I want the most badass phone on the market, or one of the most badass. Which one is better between the Droid X, Droid 2, and the Incredible? Are those better phones than the iPhones and the EVO? My gut feeling is that I want the better droid and I may switch to Verizon.

I have Verizon, 4 phones, 2000 minutes, unlimited text. My Droid has the $30 dollar package, my wife has a smartphone, but only has the $10 package. The other 2 phones just have the unlimited text. And we pay $163 a month. You gettin' ripped off son!

doubt it...it is a standard rate. Only way cheaper is if you are an Alltel import.

$119 for the family share plan
$29 x 2 for unlimited data plans
$10 for limited data
taxes take it up to over $200

How easy is it to get them to lower the price a little? Do they throw in additional discounts if you waiver like DirecTV or Time Warner will?

The only discount that I know of is if you show them a paystub or your wife's paystub...they will give a percentage off depending on the employer.
My discount is 15% but that is only applied to the plan...so 15 off of the 120. My cousin got 15 percent off of everything....

Nope, you are correct. I just looked..it's $173. Not $163. And no, I came to Verizon from AT&T.
We have a 17% discount through work off our total bill, and get 25% of everything. So add on the 17% discount..and that's still $202 dollars for 500 extra minutes and 2 more phones.
