I heard this term explained in an episode of My Boys the other day -- I knew of the concept, but didn't know there was an actual name for it. For those of you unaware, it's basically cutting off communication and hiding from the world for a variable amount of time. The desire to remove oneself from the radar stems from continuing frustration with most usually friends and family. When you've finally had enough, you temporarily cease to exist. No phone, texting, e-mail, facebook, or visible communication. Like I said, I would call it my time to hide.
So, how often do you do this? I probably do a few days a week. Mine's not so much from friends pissing me off, but just because I'm hugely introverted. My job requires me to be outspoken, friendly, and a people person so after so long I need to go underground.
