Thus when he struggled in his 2nd and 3rd years, it just provided Notre Dame with the chance to go after one of the new, sexier hires.

LOL at Charlie Weis being sexy. Thats probably the first time that word has ever been used in the same sentence as Charlie Weis.

To fire a black coach one must first hire a black coach. Moving along.....

Neither is a good coach. Both won with someone else's players. Weis was a better recruiter but couldn't get it done with his own guys. And just for good measure.....as bad of a coach as Weis is....he's undefeated vs. Willingham. And Ty isn't soley responsible for ruining ND. Never saw anybody say that to begin with. Davie, Weis and those responsible for making the hires did their part too.

Comparing Notre Dame and Washington as programs makes me laugh. Especially when you consider that Willingham had absolutely nothing to work with when he got there

Well, considering he had 4 years there....surely he could've shown them some reason to keep him in that amount of time or better yet..."found something to work with." Funny, they've stunk and Sarkisian got there and they're already better than when Ty was there. And I'm not comparing the programs. My point was Ty had more than 3 years at UW and even then he apparently wasn't worth keeping around by their low standards. It's not like he would've had to have been great to keep the UW job. Above average would've likely kept him there. However, his results at UW were atrocious...by just about everyone's standards.

Yeah don't get me wrong, I don't think Willingham was/is a great coach. I'm just saying that it is no picnic trying to win in Washington in recent years.

I'm sure I could get more than a dozen committments if I coached at Washington... I believe Ty got half a dozen one year...

First of all, I'm surprised it took so long for this little tool to get on this site.

Secondly, Willingham sucked, as does Charlie Weis. Tyrone had one good recruting class and that is it. The majority of the players that Weis won with actually were recruited by Bob Davies. Dumb shit Willinghma didn't even know about Brady Quinn until Chunedum N'Duwuke's dad told him about Quinn.

Willingham was a very good fit at Stanford, and in hindsight he would have been wise to stay there. He was able to recruit solid student-athletes, and have teams that won enough games to satisfy the fans of Stanford, a school where the bar is not as high in terms of being an elite program as it is at ND.

Weiss was an excellent OC in the NFL, and in hindsight he would have been best remaining in the NFL. He just has not been able to successfully make the transition from OC in the NFL to HC in college.

Both are very good football coach's, but both bit off more than they could handle by taking the HC job at ND, and ND made a mistake in hiring each of these individuals as HC for Notre Dame.

So basically Weis is the Rich Rod of Notre Dame or is Rich Rod the Weis of Michigan?

I think the difference is that having a conversation about Weis and questioning his coaching ability has more merit than questioning Tressel's. Tressel has had as much or more success than 90% of the coaches at the D1 level.

Question his coaching ability is fine, we've been doing it since 07. But comparing him to Willingham just so racism can be implied is stupid. Ty is not the coach of Notre Dame. When he was the coach, he was bad so he was fired. Weis is the current coach, he is bad and he will be fired. Move along, nothing to see here.
