Other than Marion Local, who should be the top D6 schools this season?

Last time I checked, Marion local is Division V (5). Delphos St. John's, from everything I'm told, might just be the team to beat in the whole MAC despite being one of the smallest schools, and is definately the team to beat in D VI. I would also look out for Newark Catholic if they make the playoffs. They play in a league where almost all the teams are D III and IV, so their record is often deceptive (they usually make it in with between 5-7 wins, depending on who those wins come against). If they make it to the playoffs with 7 or more wins this year in the regular season, lookout, because that mean's they're for real. Their league is loaded and if you see them score 4, 5, 6 wins in their league means bad news for opposing D VI schools in the post season.

May not be the team to beat but if Dalton can stay healthy they will give teams trouble come playoff time

Marion Local is D6. They were D5 for a few years and came back down last time OHSAA did the division breakdown.

Marion Local and Delphos St. John will be the two to watch IMO. Delphos has most or their entire O line back from last year. Have to replace QB and a am sure a few others but they should be loaded and ready to take back D6 title.

NC is young this year I think. They will be hungry after missing playoffs last year. If they get into playoffs they could be dangerous team.

R21 I have no clue this year. I would say St. Paul will reload but they lose a bunch off a great team. They will compete for R21 and out side of that I truly have no clue.

Bottom line I think DSJ takes title this year.

Would be great if these private school couldn't unfairly dominate d6 every year :/

IF you go to www.ohsaa.org and you look up Marion Local you will find that this is there 2nd year in D6. I wish they were still in D5. Anyways, NC needs at least 7, maybe even 8 wins to make it into the playoffs now because of schools like Grove City Christian and the Rosecrans (Zanesville) who play a much less competitive schedule (pretty much all d5 and d6 schools) and go 8-2 or 9-1 and then make it in. OHSAA needs to extend the season another week. Teams like NC don't get in at 6-4 very often anymore. (They've went 6-4 the past two seasons.) Even though they are clearly a better program. Regardless, they should pick up 7 wins and make it in this season. If they win 7 and don't get in then the system is truly flawed.

I've seen public schools do the same thing...

They are located in Wayne County and are in the WCAL.....They have a great group of backs and return a lot from a team that went 8-2 last year I believe

Carey should be decent this year, not sure top D6 but playoffs.

The Dogs were 9-2 last season. Region 21 could go to many different teams very much up for grabs.

I would say it's up for grabs. McDonald, Norwalk St. Paul, Mogadore, Wynford, Dalton, Western Reserve, and Hopewell-Loudon...should be an interesting season...

I'll take DSJ by 21 over NSP in the final. DSJ maybe 10 points better than MSML in the semis. The R23 usually does not compete well in the semis versus the R21 winner. The top 3 in R21; St. Paul, Wynford and Hopewell-Loudon are all going to be down a little this year. Not sure what McDonald has back, they were the fourth best in the region last year. R21 is the deepest, R22 & R24 are top heavy.

In region 22 you have DSJ, Ada, Leipsic that will be battling it out

I would agree that R22 is top heavy but what teams they are. R21 is loaded but I think this year it will be down. H-L, St. Paul, Wynford, Mogadore are all down this year IMO. Don't know about McDonald. They were the number one seed last year. JFK is another we haven't talked about. They usually have talent and can be a hand full if they get in. Last year they just ran into a Mogadore team that was playing well and had a better night than them. R23 is NC this year IMO, they will get in and like I said will be hungry. M-L will win R24

When I say St. Paul will be down that is compared to last year also. They still will compete for R21. Dalton could be a team to watch in R21. New coach so it will be interesting to see how they respond to him.

Most of those comments were from Dalton fans also...I am not..NOt saying Dalton will be a powerhouse, they just have talent there and are capable of competing for R21 this year.

Private schools have won 7 D6 titles in 16 years. Not 100% dominating, the public shools have done just fine.

You have to remember that St. Henry, Marion Local, and Mogadore, all with multiple D6 titles are all public schools.

Yes, the last 3 have been won by private schools, but there was a point from 2000-2004 when public schools won 5 in a row.

Yes, OHSAA needs to slant the playing field even more in favor of Newark Catholic. Poor Newark Catholic just has had such a tough time the past 4 decades that they need a break. How about this, quit crying about other schools and write a letter to your A.D. He is suppose to know the rules and the mathematical formula that is used to select playoff teams. Fact is only one Newark Catholic victory last year was impressive... Licking Valley D3 5-5. Centerburg, Fisher Catholic, Lakewood, Bexley, Whitehall Yearling aren't impressive wins regardless of divisions. The losses are impressive, but style points don't count in the Harbin Points. The system isn't flawed. Complain to your coach for not pulling the Heath game out and to your AD for his scheduling. Newark Catholic is a D6 school in a city of 40,000+ with a wretched public school football program, and is the only catholic school in 140,000+ Licking County. There is no excuse for Newark Catholic as it has 10 times the resources at its fingertips than 95% of the other D6 schools.

Schools with open enrollment are no better than private schools.

Nothing wrong with open enrollment..I take full advantage of it with my son. I'm very grateful schools have this policy.
