And no that is not an excuse it's reality. If Troy Smith played tonight because Flacco was hurt I would say the same thing for Baltimore. Pittsburgh probably would have spanked Baltimore pretty good.

Don't forget the 4 more turnovers.
Maybe/Maybe not ,you act like he throws 3-4 pics a game.If we are talking Cutler then yes but Roethlisberger has more good games than bad.

lol at some of these posts. Next game between these two teams happens on December 27th. I hope both teams are healthy. The game was entertaining at least.

I didn't say that but how can you say that Dixon did as good as Ben would have?He played a excellent game for what they wanted him to do.By no means did he play a game that would earn him player of the week if he had pulled this game out.

It doesn't really make a difference what Big Ben might have done if he played. The reality is he didn't play. You will get your shot to show what could have happened in less than a month when they have the rematch.

I can agree with that. I just disagree with the thought the game would automatically not been different if had started BECAUSE he'd be guaranteed to commit 4 more turnovers than Dixon did.

Steelers do not deserve to make the play-offs. I really don't understand Bruce Arians either, for the past few weeks. Plus we have the worst DB's in the league, minus Troy.

I don't know the Ravens secondary is pretty shaky minus Ed Reed.

Ben may have gotten sacked 4 or 5 times, after 4 years, he still holds the ball too long.

LOL!
What's so funny about that? It happens plenty in the NFL, sometimes teams choke when they need to seal the deal.

You know, people say that, but he has won 2 Super Bowls and been to 3 AFC Championship games playing like that. I wouldn't change it now.

Most of that was due to his supporting cast IMO.

Has anyone been up close to Ray Lewis? He is bigger than I ever imagined. I thought James Harrison was big...good god.

I was also right beside the Ravens linebackers when Ray was doing his pregame speech....I love him.

True the Steelers have had a good supporting cast around Ben but all you have to do is put on the film of some of those playoff games and you'll see Ben scrambling around and making some big throws.

Even in the regular season, he makes a lot of plays on third downs that an average quarterback wouldn't make. Have to take the good with the bad. His style is fun to watch and it's led to a lot of great moments for the Steelers and it's helped them win a lot of games, not that it's all him but he's been one of their most significant players in recent years.

^^^ Arians must go. The first four plays of OT were runs, picked up a first down and the offense was controlling the line of scrimmage. So...lets decide to throw the ball with our third string QB on 2nd and 5 in OT. Incomplete, so let's throw it again on 3rd and 5...and the rest is history. I blame Arians for most of the struggles the offense has had the last two years, and yes I know the Steelers won the Super Bowl last year, but the defense can't keep saving your ass week after week after month after month after year.

Ridiculous. Arians and Roethlisberger are a great fit in Pittsburgh and the Steelers organization has never fired coaches for any little mistake nor should they. If you want a new coach after every off season root for the Raiders. Also I would hardly say the Steelers have had offensive struggles, if you recall the biggest factors in the last couple losses have been the pathetic kickoff coverage and several defensive meltdowns, not the offense. I would agree that the playcalls in OT were a little strange. They should have tried another bootleg with Dixon like what he scored on.

Arians has changed the entire personality of the offense, from run first to pass first. Which has gotten Roethlisberger killed, had way too many short possessions and forced the defense onto the field for an extended period of time. Part of what has made the defense so great is the offense's ability to control the ball and the clock, I have not seen for some time, with the exception of the second half in Denver. I know they lost the Cincy game partly because of a kick return, but how many touchdowns did the offense score in that game? Also how's the short yardage game been the last few years? When the Pittsburgh Steelers struggle to pick up 3 and 1, or go to five wides to throw the ball on 4 and 2, I put that on the offensive coordinator.
