Well. Arians is a jagoff for sure. Give your team a chance to win the game.
Special teams played better tonight.
Dixon's first TO was in OT. No one predicted that. Good God Ben would have thrown three or four INT's way before that.
All in all a great game. If you were not a fan of either team this one was one for the ages.
Drops us way the fuck out of the play off picture. Maybe we can get a better draft choice this year. Sucks drafting 32nd all the time. Let's look for a O lineman or something.
Dixon proved he is pretty damned good. Love to se some "Slash" type packages with him in the future. Oh that's right, Arians is still the OC.
I am off to console myself in some Internet porn.

Good post. I was totally miffed at why they didn't call another misdirection running play on 3rd and 5 in the OT. They had it set up again and it didn't neccesarily need to be the same play Dixon scored on.Terry_Tate wrote: I wanted to see the Steelers lose as badly as anyone, but hate to see it end that way for Dennis Dixon. I loved watching him in college and he played a great game overall but his biggest mistake doomed them. He definitely has talent though, coaches just need to let him use his athletic skill a little more. That TD run was great, should have done more plays like that instead of having him pass so much.

I agree but they win this game easily if Roethlisberger had played.Baltimore should feel fortunate they won tonight. If you're a playoff team how do you go OT with a team that had so many key players out?

Really? If Big Ben was in they would have had 3 more turnovers than they did. Ravens would have scored on at least one of them. Wouldn't have even went to OT. Dixon did just as good IMO as Big Ben would have..no..I'm not comparing him to Big Ben or saying he's that caliber of a player..but he played an excellent game tonight. Don't think Big Ben would have made ANY difference in this game.Puddle Jumper wrote: I agree but they win this game easily if Roethlisberger had played.Baltimore should feel fortunate they won tonight. If you're a playoff team how do you go OT with a team that had so many key players out?

How so? They have no margin for error now and crazier things have happened at the end of the year before, who knows they could still win the division if the Bungles implode.THE4RINGZ wrote:Drops us way the fuck out of the play off picture.

I agree with the "why didn't Dixon run more" theme. He had a huge gain called back and a TD. His arm was overall far less reliable in the second half than the first. They should have brought his legs into play a bit more....especially in their final possession. They had possession in great field position (their own 45) and called two runs and a pass up the middle. That's a formula to get raped by a team like the Ravens. You can't be THAT conservative.

I agree. He had a huge run earlier called back, had the TD run, in college he was unbelievable, Vince Young-esque at Oregon. I think had he not gotten injured that year he would have won the Heisman and they very well might have gone to the championship. He's a crazy good athlete and they needed to use him more in that capacity, and it cost them.rock_knutne wrote:

Lifelong Steelers fan here, but I do get really really frustrated with some of Ben's antics. Throw the fucking ball away sometimes. I thought Dixon controlled the game very well for the most part. I am not saying he should replace Ben as the starter but I was happy to see him only throw one INT (when it mattered most though) and he seems to have moved the offense. I was expecting a raven's feeding frenzy on the on first time starter, he negated that.
Good job Dixon.
Good job Dixon.

Dude... put the crack pipe down. Do you forget that Ben carved up the Ravens three times last year? They had zero running game against the Ravens last season.... Great defense and great QB play in the clutch is why they beat them. To say he would have made no difference tonight is just dumb.GoChiefs wrote:Really? The bengals seems unimplodable at this point. They have a nice team, and could get thier first round bye before getting exposed in the play offs.rock_knutne wrote:How so? I disagree. I'd at least partially agree with you if they'd let Dixon run a bit more, as his speed makes him a good threat for quick-hitting options, but he essentially played a stripped-down Roethlisberger playbook. I don't think they really played to Dixon's strengths as a player as well as they could have. I'd call Ben better at "Ben-style" than Dixon is, so I think things could have been better for us if he played, considering the play-calling.GoChiefs wrote:Really? I'm surprised at how well the Steelers ran the ball against the Ravens actually.
If they ran it like that with Ben in there, he'd pick em apart with the play action.

I agree....and think that if they "get exposed" in the playoffs, it won't be getting exposed, but rather one of those down-to-the-wire losses that really does more to exhibit the "any given Sunday/parity" argument than "exposing" a team. I look at "getting exposed" to mean you got your ass kicked. I can see a lot of teams beating the Bengals, due to the number of close games they've been in), but I don't see anyone blasting them.THE4RINGZ wrote:The bengals seems unimplodable at this point. If the bengals can continue to run the ball like they have. The LJ pick is HUGE for them they probably won't get blown out. I am saying a team like the colts could expose their D and make them look like the bengals of old.

I agree that different package would utilize Dixon's strength's better, but I'm not sure you want him running the ball and risking injury when Tyler Palko is the back-up and he's been in camp for 3 days.I don't think they really played to Dixon's strengths as a player as well as they could have. I'd call Ben better at "Ben-style" than Dixon is, so I think things could have been better for us if he played, considering the play-calling.
The Steelers must now run the table and hope Denver loses.

So..with me pointing out what I underlined..that would have mattered in this game how? Dixon played a great game..Ravens still won..so no..I don't think he would have made a difference. How would he have played any better than Dixon did? Of course..coulda, woulda, shoulda's don't really matter..and I'm not a Steelers or Ravens fan..so I could care less about the outcome of the game. Lol..It was just my opinion.Walt wrote: Dude... put the crack pipe down. Do you forget that Ben carved up the Ravens three times last year? They said they only had 15 plays for Dixon tonight.I figured Dixon would have run a few times on his own because he definately had room to run.Heretic wrote:I disagree. Dixon played a great game for a guy making his first career start and getting his first real legit NFL experience. That's different from actually playing great. His second half/overtime was very shaky.GoChiefs wrote:So..with me pointing out what I underlined..that would have mattered in this game how? Go Chiefs Dixon played a good game but Roethlisberger would have had more than 149yds passing and atleast 2-3 tds against that secondary. So yes he would have made a difference but you are correct it wouldn't have went OT because the Steelers would have won by 2 scores.GoChiefs wrote:So..with me pointing out what I underlined..that would have mattered in this game how?
