Cleveland will get prospects in the deal

St Louis is also working on a deal that would send Ryan Ludwick to San Diego.

^^^^

what are they hoping to get for Ludwick?

Its a decent deal for St. Louis, not exactly the top flight starter they wanted, but could be a good deal

I figured that Westy was gone.....hate to see him go, but no player deserves to play in this joke of an organization.

He's scheduled to take the mound in 30 minutes, Indians haven't announced a replacement yet.

3 Twitter accounts are saying Tomlin on 3 days rest (the ones that scroll through when you google stuff).

Tribe gets RHP Corey Kluber from the Padres in the trade. He's 6'4" with a 5-5 record and 3.45 ERA in AA San Antonio this season. Also 136 K's and only 40 BB in 122 IP.

Sucks to see Westbrook go. But he's going to a good team and it's not the Yankees or Red Sox.

THey couldn't sign Ludwick at the end of the year when he's a free agent and the emergence of Jon Jay (hit over .400 in July in a fulltime role) made it a crowded outfield for STL. With Holiday in LF, Rasmus in CF, and Jon Jay in RF - they have Winn as a back-up and Felipe Lopez also when Freese gets back next week. Great move by the Cards. If Penny makes it back off the DL, then that gives STL 2 aces and 2 quailty guys, tough to beat in a 5 game series - they had to keep up with Philly after they got Oswalt.

It's impossible to trade Hafner.

With the way Jaime Garcia is pitching this year (9-4, 2.33 ERA), they have 3 aces.

If I'm contending for the playoffs/a championship, I want Ryan Ludwick going forward, not Jon Jay. I wouldn't be worried about building for the future, the future is now if I'm in contention. I like the pickup of Westbrook for the Cards, they needed pitching, but not at the price of Ludwick. I don't trust Jon Jay. Rookies that hit over .400 for a month are bound to come down to Earth in a big way.

I don't trust Jon Jay either. If you trade one of your bigger bats in your lineup, you MUST get more than freaking Jake Westbrook.

Agreed. That is one inflated contract for his production.
