I find hazing, however innocent, to be lame, but it would be different is Roy Williams was a leader to begin with. Was his request a team rite of passage or just Roy Williams being a douche? I'm guessing it is the latter, which is why I don't mind Dez telling him to piss off.
I liken it to this:
You're a senior on the basketball team. You guys have an incoming freshman who is supposed to contribute heavily to the success of the team, and is talented enough to earn major minutes. Everyone on the team is excited to have him except the salty returning senior douchebag whose playing time (Roy Williams) is being taken by said freshman (Bryant). Consequently, the senior douchebag decides to haze the freshman because he's mad his playing time is being reduced to make room for the new guy. When the freshman decides not to go along with the hazing the senior gets pissed off, but no one else on the team really cares because they just want everyone to get along.
It seems that the Cowboys aren't making a stink about this, and Roy is just being a douchebag.
Maybe it's because he's been a terrible disappointment since coming from Detroit, or maybe he's just insecure, but I have absolutely no problems with Bryant's refusal.
