The reason I ask is because Cowherd keeps saying how unselfish LeBron was to take less money to win championships.

From what I understand, in Florida, taxes are extremely low or non-existant. Wouldn't that actually make LeBron richer with take home pay, etc?

PS- I know nothing about income taxes by state, its just a question I had.

Plus the sign and trade as opposed to him going as free agent allowed him to get more money.

I read/heard he is taking $6 million less in Miami. Despite the Cavs being able to offer 6yr/$129 and he signed for 6yr/$110, the no income tax makes up the difference.

Taking less money does not equal unselfishness.

When one feels he has to take a dump on the franchise who bowed down to him for 7 years, self-promote and self-gloss for an hour on ESPN, and treat people terribly in order to win championships and improve one's "brand" and legacy, that is not unselfish.

BTW, no state taxes in Fla. He's making more in Miami.

He took less money at the end of the day, but it wasn't as bad as many thought. All you heard for the last two years is that 30M difference. It wasn't a big issue, although that never became a popular opinion. So much for experts. Did anybody else realize that all the "experts" over the past two years have looked really stupid when talking about LBJ and free agency in general? End rant.

I turned Cowherd off after he went on a rant about people not knowing what loyalty means. Justifying it by saying Lebron was being loyal to himself. There is a word for that already Colin its SELFISH.

Was that you who brought this up on another thread a long time ago? I remember somebody trying to explain how it really works and why the $30 mil was way off, which kind of blew the whole, "he's gonna stay because its more money" theory.

Oh my god....I turned him off too. Today and yesterday. He pissed me off and has no clue.

Bases I need to put this on my calendar. After 8 years or so of bantering back and forth you and I agree on something.

Selfish my ass. He got drafted by Cleveland, had no say in that. He gave them 7 years, they needed him, he didn't need them. He had all the right in the world to leave, and shouldn't have to explain that to anyone.
How many of you have left a job fo rmore money, a better situation, or a more desireable job/hours/place to live? I know I've never stayed at a job just because the people I work with needed me there, or the company needed me there. You make things happen for yourself, you owe nothing to anyone - especially delirious fans.

The argument wasn't whether what he did was selfish or not, it was about Cowherds description of loyalty. He described selfishness and tried to say it was loyalty.


Lebron can do whatever the fuck he wants, he was a free agent, but to do it the way he did it was selfish and a slap in the face to the area that helped make him the millions he made without stepping foot on an NBA floor.

That might be a good point if it weren't for the fact that 1) any other team/area in the league that drafted him would've "helped make him the millions he made without stepping foot on an NBA floor and 2) those people weren't using his talent and entertainment value to make their own lives better, without doing a fucking thing besides watching him and riding his coattails.

Cowherd today legit pissed me off listening to him. He read Cleveland emails with valid points and basically said who cares to every single one of them.

He gave us the only quote we need to give him shit and its the 'I dont want to go ring chasing quote'. He lied, he is a bitch, Cleveland can be mad at him.

Yes, he stayed in Cleveland for 7 years. That 3 year contract is another reason to be pissed off at him. When the Cavs were trying to get people in the roster to help him out he wouldn't commit to the guys on being there past the end of the 2010. So he practically held them by the balls, they couldn't accomplish anything then, and oh yeah, he quit like a bitch in Game 5.

Yeah again, how old was he when he said that? I don't know how old you are, but have you had the same aspirations since the time you were 18? Could someone really not go back to something you said at one time and since you changed your goals, call you a liar?

Getting back to the topic. As soon as LeBron switches his residency to Florida, he will then no longer be taxed (state) on his endorsements. So not only is he saving money from the contract not having a state income tax on it, he now wont have to give a state income tax to Ohio for Gatorade, Nike, etc.

I really hope he is smart enough to switch his residency:D:D

He was the same age I probably am right now typing this. You know what though, I know to never, ever, under any circumstances say that quote unless I willing to stand by it.

Lebron, to switch the titles of all his cars over to Florida though, has to pay sales tax on them! So boom, screw you Lebron.

Ha ha, I'm glad you will never say you will not go ring chasing. Still, just because he said five years ago (or whatever) that he "doesn't want to go ring chasing" doesn't mean he lied. At that time, he may not have wanted to go ring chasing. A few years later, things have changed. That isn't lying, its changing your mind and I guarantee you've done it.
