I see the sequel came out not o long ago, but was straight to DVD.. Anybody see that one yet? If so, how was it?

I'm a huge horror fan but have been so disappointed lately with the remakes, I don't think I'll bother to watch anymore that come out. I thought Halloween I Zombie remake was good, the 2nd one, wtf happened, he totally messed that movie up. The TCM remake was pretty good. Nightmare on Elm Street was a total joke and stupid. I hate that they are remaking my favorite 80's movies, it makes me feel old.

Bad. Don't watch it.

The horror movies that continue to be the best, in my view, are the ones that create intolerable suspense that something horrible is going to happen (whether it does or not).

The original Haunting was great. You never saw anything, but it scared the poop out of you by using your own imagination against you. Same, to a degree, with the original Halloween. There wasn't that much actual slicing and dicing on screen, but the ability of the movie to create suspense and use your imagination was terrific.

Movies that do nothing more than rack up body counts in varying ways aren't really horror movies to me. I don't get off on gore like some folks do, and envelope just keeps getting pushed further and further on the gore meter. That REALLY does nothing for me, and hardly qualifies as suspenseful since you know people are going to die, lots of them, in horrible ways.

I thought "The Strangers" did a great job of keeping the high tension going. But other than that, there haven't been very many good, suspenseful horror movies in the last 10 years.

I dont like remakes at all. Not to say all of them are bad movies, but I would much rather go see a movie that is original.
