Pretty even game. Both teams get their first run on a HR, then both teams get their 2nd run on an abortion of a play by the defense. Both get their 3rd run on decent offense, the Reds on a real clutch hit by Cairo, the only RBI of the game on a hit that wasn't a HR. I think the key to the loss for the Reds was the two innings they failed to get the run in that was on 3rd with one out, and the other inning when Stubbs reached and then Corky got a hit to right on the hit and run and they weren't able to parlay that into any score.

Wait a minute, "it's always tough to win on the road in extra innings?"

They had won 9 consecutive road extra inning games going back to last year. That does NOT sound too hard.

The Reds had two blown RBIs, but the Phils had blown saves in both the 8th and 9th!
