Does anyone know of a kid who plays football, then jumps into the marching band at halftime?

If there's someone you know of or is on the team you follow, then please send me a direct message or just post it on this thread. The company I am working for would like to do a story on this. Ideally, we'd like to keep it Central Ohio since that is where we are located, but it's certainly not limited to that region.

Waynedale HS in Apple Creek had a kid who did this last year. Not sure if he is doing both this year or not.

I have seen this a few times over the years.

First you 'central Ohio guys want the state title games, now this? j/k. lol.

A lot of schools like Steubenville don't allow something like this to happen. Both football and band are full-time activities.

I have seen it also, not recently though.

Most of the time SALINEVILLE SOUTHERN has 2 or 3 that do it.

I believe Poland had a player do this last year...I've seen it a few times, but that was probably the only time I've seen it done on a team that was good.

Ben Moody from Lakeview did it for at least a year or two, I think. Now he's a sophomore RB for Cornell.

That's surprising...I would have thought MOST of the Big Red players were band geeks.

They are, it's just they aren't allowed to play in the band during football season

Which instrument did you play skin flute or bag pipes?

It would be really hard, I mean if you are a starter in football. You miss all of the halftime "adjustments", etc.

I don't know how a football coach of a good team would allow a starter to do it. I could see a kid that is on JV and doesn't play much on friday nights.

West Holmes had two kids doing it. One senior was in marching band, was a kicker for the football team and also played soccer. The other kid was an underclassmen. We also had a kid play golf and football.

In my opinion... it should not happen. Make a choice, life is full of em... and and it makes life exciting.

Sure, it sounds all warm and fuzzy to let kids participate in multiple activities simultaneously, but in the end it is a cluster----. The coaches and band directors should not have to tolerate this philosophy, it disrupts commitment from the other participants.

I have seen soccer players that kick for a football team, miss a playofff game due to a soccer playoff game. This just creates an atmosphere where kids are not treated as equally as possible. The politically correct thing to do is let em play/participate in everything.... the proper thing to do is make a decision to do one or the other. Where is your passion?

Oregon Cardinal Stritch has that happen every year. back in 2007 a football player even won Homecoming Queen at halftime.
