We have said that all year long, but nothing ever changes.....as fans it is very difficult to watch when you know what needs to be done but it's not called, or that player isn't in the game etc...
All the Orrville guys on here have said Mason and Davis need more carries....look what happened on that ONE drive where we had both of them in the backfield, we marched right down the field ate up clock and scored. Also the pass plays on that drive were very easy reads for our young QB, and he made nice throws...one for a TD on that drive.
Don't get me wrong Simpson is a good back, but he is to gimpy and as started to dance and run more east/west than north/south. We need to give more carries to these guys and stop running that dumb misdirection play. We started that my junior year and it is so hard to time up and the defense knows what is coming. Coaches need to learn how to get Turner the ball more and not just on that quick throw to the outside.
Defensively we looked scared in the secondary and affraid to get physical with teh receivers. Man up and make him beat you off the ball, we have good enough athletes to do that but we always run zone coverage, and a good passing team knows how to find those holes and Ashland did that tonight.
We got a big wake-up call tonight and I hope the boys learned their lesson on penalties....it's week 7 don't you think it's time to learn to not go until the ball is snapped? I think this coaching staff has gotten too leniant with these players. When I played if you got a penalty you got yelled at for doing it. I see nothing from the coaches, and it has gotten worse as the season has progressed. I love Coach Davault, but he needs to put the hammer down on these issues.
I feel like I am beating a dead horse right now....
