Big difference....the US was playing in a stadium that held 35K.......you need noise makers to be loud with that low a number. Put those things in the hands of 100K+ and you are looking at deafening sounds

cbus4life is right...we have to endure 365 days of at least one full page of the Cols Dispatch dedicated to the Crew or some other worthless soccer BS daily! I'm calling it "Senor Keek-bol" (kickball for Seniors) played by mostly illegal aliens who can't or won't speak English.

Good point. Didn't think about the Crew coverage.

Vuvuzelas are not new and they certainly are not new to Columbus. I bought one at the Ohio State Fair 45 years ago.

Nobody cares about kick-ball. The Crew doesn't draw as much as a high school football game and they are in the best league in the U.S.

So you think the majority of people in the U.S. hear about soccer all the time?

Sigh. Ignorant people amaze me. Look, just because you guys hate a sport doesn't mean it's not popular.

IF it WASN'T popular, we wouldn't have dedicated soccer channels on our cable and satellite packages. If it wasn't popular, ESPN wouldn't have signed a huge deal with the EPL and the UEFA Champions Leagues to broadcast games..

If it WASN'T popular, the MLS wouldn't have just expanded to it's 16th team this year.

Which brings me to my next point, the MLS isn't going to be confused for a top tier league, yet it still draws VERY WELL in the United States. The league is growing at a very nice rate. The average crowd so far this year is at 16,500 per match. That is VERY solid. Imagine if the MLS had the best players in the world playing? It would easily have an average of 30k+ fans attending the games. Speaking of which, the MLS is starting to bring over some of the top talent, even if they are a tad bit past their prime. First David Beckham and now Thierry Henry is making his way over to the New York Red Bulls.. Who ironically just opened up a 25,000 seat 180 million dollar stadium themselves.

Hell, the team in Philly was drawing 30k per home game at Lincoln Financial and just opened up their own stadium today in front of a packed house.

Again, I don't really understand what the issue is with you guys and soccer, it really does make NO sense. I'm also going to guess most of you guys hating on it are over 28, right?

What's hard to understand that it sucks? Look I get that the rest of the world loves soccer, it's just really far down on the totem pole in the U.S. I, personally, fall a sleep after about 3 minutes of watching it.

No, soccer is not gay. The only truly gay sport is professional women's basketball. Since I am gay, I could get discounted tickets to all the games the Seattle team plays.
