SO somehow my esitmated payments got split up (in an odd percentage to boot) on my tax return between lines 61 (employer tax witholdings) and line 62 (estimated payments). My business partner did my taxes for me, and for that he was getting my $108 return deposited to his account. So today he checks his account and see that he got a direct deposit of $8923...... fuck....

So i call the IRS and they were like "oh well our computers saw it as an overpayment because it said you had employer withholdings of another amount, but I see on your account that you only had estimated payments"

What the fuck, are you guys that fucking stupid?! Argh, so now I have to file and amended return, write a check for $8800 and send it in to them and PRAY that I don't get audited.

The woman at the IRS said that they should be able to recognize what happened and not really bother me any further..... but if they let this happen, I can't really trust them to figure this out.

the one thing I've learned from dealing with the IRS is this--whatever they say they're going to do,plan on the opposite happening ;)

Throw a big party, fake your own death, buy a new identity and SS number online for $250. Problem solved.

BTW, you're welcome.

What I don't get is, if my account had the correct amount of credits throughout the 2009 tax year, no matter what the return SLIGHT, INSANELY MINOR discrepancy is, why the fuck would you reject it? It just makes no sense to me at all.

My business partner is a DoD employee, I am sure someone is watching his bank account (like I said in the first post, the refund was being deposited to his account) waiting for him to withdrawl the money then BAM FINGERS IN THE PUSSY.

My experience with the IRS is that the people working there are good people and do a good job....the bureacracy is insane though.

We've fought with the IRS 3 times in the last 7 years, again the people there will work with you and mean the best...ASSUMING you get a person to talk with you. No joke, the last time we fought we would get notices in the mail that they (the IRS) noted our phone call, or received a form, or whatever. Sometimes I wonder if the IRS and the U.S. Postal Service are in cahoots.

We haven't had a full audit but I'm not sure we'd care if they did, as overly-conservative as we are with our returns there is a possbility that an audit would show an overpayment from us.
