Yeah, we have signal, it's just really spotty. I miss calls all the time and sometimes I have to walk around the house when dialing out before I'll get a ring.

Well AT&T service sucks where I'm at in North Chicago. I know soooo many people in my barracks with Iphones that can't get signal in their rooms. I think AT&T's network problems are in the big cities with heavy users like San Fran and LA.

i'm a n00b when it comes to 4G/LTE. Will that enable the bigger cities' networks to unwind a little? will the next generation of Service releive the pressure/strain of the big city networks? or is it an infrastructure thing?

AT&T has barely any signal where I am at, or I would already have an Iphone. My Verizon Blackberry meets my needs for now I suppose, but I do suffer from phone envy for sure.

I have a great signal that is why I don't cry about AT&T. I will be looking to upgrade once this comes out.

I think my two years ends March 2011 so I can upgrade this October if my math is right with 6mos early as I just have a 3g?

Does ATT have any 4g coverage yet? And is there a price hike like what Sprint did with their EVO?

No 4G coverage...and they already had the price-hike implemented.

If you utilize the new "early upgrade option" the price will be $399 for the 16g and 499 for the 32g.

Not if your contract is up in the year 2010. If it is, then you get the discounted price.

Maybe I'm not understanding, but I think this article says differently.

As an incentive to get current iPhone owners to upgrade to the new iPhone 4 announced today, AT&T has modified its upgrade eligibility policy.
In his keynote address, after announcing the iPhone 4, Apple CEO Steve Jobs explained that AT&T was rolling back eligibility dates for its customers so they could get the iPhone 4 sooner.

"AT&T is going to make an incredibly generous upgrade offer. If your contract expires at any time in 2010, you can upgrade to the iPhone 4 [at launch]. You can get it up to six months early," Jobs said.
"We know that people are eager to get iPhone 4, which is why we moved up the upgrade eligibility date for current iPhone customers by up to six months. This move, combined with the new wireless data plans we announced last week, will make it more affordable for more people to purchase an iPhone and enjoy the benefits of the mobile Internet," said Ralph de la Vega, president and CEO, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets, in a statement.
This move benefits AT&T and iPhone users alike. Customers can get the latest iPhone sooner, and it allows AT&T to lock customers into another contract. With increasing unrest about the AT&T network performance, getting customers to sign up for another contract instead of switching networks when their contracts expire is an important move for AT&T.
The iPhone 4 will go on sale June 14 with pre-orders starting June 15. For new or "Upgrade Eligible" customers the 16GB iPhone 4 will go for $199 on contract and $299 on contract for the 32GB version, plus an $18 upgrade fee. However, for those exercising their early upgrade option (those whose contracts expire sometime in 2010, as mentioned), the price goes up to $399 for a 16GB iPhone 4 and $499 for the 32GB iPhone 4. The iPhone 3GS 8GB will be discounted to $99 on June 24 as well, or for $299 for early upgraders.
iPhone owners who are unclear about their upgrade eligibility status can text "*639#" on their iPhones to receive a text message from AT&T.

^^^that is terrible. Why not just give everyone the cheaper upgrade? So many more people would sign up for their data packages...smh

"Any existing iPhone customer eligible for an upgrade between today and the end of this year will be eligible for our best pricing for iPhone 4, $199 and $199, with a two year term commitment," the company said Monday.
I think Ted is correct.

There must be some contradictions out there then.

Q: Let's say I already have an iPhone, but I still am on a contract for my previous iPhone. When am I able to upgrade to the iPhone 4 for the discounted price?
Siegel: iPhone customers eligible for an upgrade between now and the end of the year can get the discounted price on the device. We've accelerated upgrade eligibility for iPhone customers so they can experience the new device as soon as possible.
So this means I can get the 16GB for $199 and the 32GB for $299, correct?
Siegel: Correct.
During the keynote Jobs said that if your contract ends any time during 2010, you can get a new iPhone 4 for the discounted price if you re-sign a new contract. Is this true?
Siegel: If you are an iPhone customer who is upgrade-eligible this year, you can get the best price. Eligibility may or may not coincide with the end of your contract. It depends on your individual situation.

The resolution of this Iphone blows away everything out there and the chatting thing is cool, but the other specs I have heard is kind of middle of the road....at least when compared to all these new droids.
