People who compare specs from a MacBook to a PC are RETARDED.

Mac's are equipped with Mac OSX, an opertaing system that isn't NEARLY as resource heavy as Windows.

There are still PC's out there that have PROBLEMS running Windows.

It makes you wonder why a company like GOOGLE is now making Mac or Linux computers MANDATORY for employees.

Oh yeah, and Apple just surpassed Microsoft in market cap! lololololololol So hilarious to see Apple worth more money than Microsoft..

I know you are just trolling, but I'll take the bait. If you can't afford the Mac go with what you know.

How about this. Compared to my Dell....which was purchased one year before the MacBook.

The Mac.....longer battery life, quieter, less hot, runs my DJ software much better than the Dell, recognizes my external HD faster, same amount of memory (yet runs much smoother), has never locked up...EVER, has a built in cam. Runs MS office, and Parallels with Windows XP. I could go on and on.

The only plus the Dell had was more USB ports and a bigger screen.....but the screen was a negative for me. Operating systems were a push...I can run both with ease. I bring my laptop everywhere...smaller the better. Btw I paid $1050 for the Macbook with student discount. $1500 for the Inspiron.

I have nothing against PCs. I plan on building a water cooled beast desktop eventually, but I'd never go the PC route for a notebook, just like I'd never go the Mac route for a desktop.

Google didn't do that. They just are going with Linux or Mac (most likely Linux) for the future because they don't want to write large licensing checks to their biggest competitor.

I'm planning on getting a new laptop this weekend. I'll probably go the PC route for this one, as it will end up as The Wife's after a few months. Then I'm gonna try a Mac after that.

Speaking on that issue. My old roommates HP notebook. He purchased it last summer with Vista, upgraded to 7 and it is really struggling. Every now and then with no programs running it will spin up and sound like its going to blast off. It has pretty decent specs so I'm not sure what is wrong with it.

You may want to check your sources. Google is making Mac or Linux mandatory for SECURITY REASONS.

Also, Microsoft isn't Google's biggest competitor, Apple is.

Speaking of which, Microsoft and Apple were supposedly "teaming" up to tackle Google, Apple was even considering making 'Bing' the primary search bar for Safari and the iPhone.

However, it seems Google and Apple are making up.

Isn't it amazing? I mean, if you upgrade to Snow Leopard (the newest OS from Apple) it actually IMPROVES your system and clears up to 7GB of unneeded space from your HDD.

Yeah, I found that hard to believe at first. I went from Tiger straight to Snow Leopard and timed my reboots.....significantly faster.

I feel that most people that get on Macs or Mac users have never really used one. Just like the "Mac nutswingers"...they jump on the anti-Mac bandwagon when they actually don't know shit about them except that they cost more. I know....I was one of them. If OSU didn't offer the Apple discount, I'd probably be typing this on another shitty Dell right now.

Speaking of new laptops....my dad has been looking for one. He basically just wants it for web browsing and managing his iPod. I was thinking going the netbook route, but I'm not sure on the HD space and how they run with iTunes. Hes also a fan of Skype and video conferencing.

Yeah, I used to give my wife shit all the time for buying a Macbook.

I've got a MacBook Pro as well as a Toshiba Satellite. Love them both.

And, this is the same with many of my programmer friends where i'm currently working...they love both types, and use them both for different things. Many folks are currently using Macs, and the company is starting to add more support for Macs and purchasing them for employees, as even they recognize that they are worthwhile investments. And, at the same time, they also recognize the value of our Windows-based machines and the positives that they bring.

It is completely possible to use both and enjoy both and acknowledge the faults and positives of both.

I do it all the time.

I've had both a Mac and PCs. I've got first hand experience with both. Coming from someone who builds their own computers and does multiple things that most computer users don't do, Macs just flat out suck. I never felt more insulted using that stupid OS X. It's like a user friendly version of Linux with a giant price tag. They try to make it so "retard friendly" that its hard for people like me who are actually trying to use them for more than email and word processing.

Good for you.

I'm a fairly advanced computer user, a web-developer by trade, and I think Windows/PCs flat out suck. A Unix-based operating system is inherently better than one that isn't. I've also been able to do anything I've ever wanted to do on a Mac thanks to the terminal and apps like Geektool.

Also, OS X is $29. Windows is the only OS with a giant price tag.

Just sayin'.

Lol. I think the dudes from Google i've met who use Macs would disagree.

I know plenty of absolutely brilliant programmers, UI folks, etc., who use Macs in their work.

My OP contained nothing but facts and everything else is just opinion.

I empirically proved PC's > MAC's that was the entire point of this thread.

Thanks for playing.
