What the farmer doing wasn't "bad" per say, it was more rough. All my vet friends agree that judging by the way the cow got up it wasn't down, just stubborn. They just used that to try to show a pattern. Kicking a 900 lb cow in the neck to get the damn thing up may be rough, but is nothing like whacking it with a crowbar or stomping on a calf's head. What Conklin was shown doing is no worse than smacking your dog hard on the nose for being bad. What the employee did was terrible and needs to be punished.
I totally agree, cows don't always want to do what ya tell them...lol. It didn't seem like that hard of a blow. I'm aware that they want to show a pattern of abuse. I've even read comments on some papers websites that 'my grandma told me' the Conklin's have been abusing their animals for years. I'm not sure if I buy that as why would you abuse the animals that make you money. I grew up out in the country/farmland so I'm kinda aware of the farmers mentality. Like the saying 'that pig farm may stink, but all the owner can smell is money' !!!

I just think it sucks that this group is the one who got the video. Yes I am glad that the guy was caught, but i mean, what the fuck does limiting the transport of downed cows and chicken confinement have to do with the beating of a cow? Sadly many people will fall for this appeal to emotions fallacy that HSUS and this Mercy group are using.
It is sad that an extremist group did the video, as they want to cast a bad shadow on ALL farms. Because some idiot abused some cows, they want to make it seem like the whole 'Industry' is that way. In the long run I wonder just how much will they really accomplish for the good of the animals.
