IMO this is one of the best events in sports right now. Besides playoffs and title games and all that.

Definitely the best regular season event any of the big sports, lots of people seem to enjoy it.

NFL has Thanksgiving (good tradition, but the Lions suck), and the game in London (no one outside of the fans of the teams care)
MLB has... Civil Rights Game? (No one cares whatsoever)
NBA has nothing?

Nope its not but the NBA games on Christmas day are normally against really good teams or have some great star players in them still nothing compares to the Winter Classic.

I would love to get tickets to this game. I don't like either team, but it would be awesome to go.

"Definitely" the best is false, because it's all opinion.

In my opinion, NHL is pretty much manure.

Give me the XMas day NBA games or the Turkey Day football game games any day over anything the NHL can offer.

Give me the opportunity to watch paint dry vs. any NBA game, Christmas Day or not. In my opinion, the NBA ceased being basketball about 20 years ago and is now trash.

I thought Id never find anything, other than another plate of saurkraut, mashed taters and barbqribs, would pry me away from bowl games on NYD but the winter classic has def done that.

Last year I bet we watched more of the hockey game than football during that time period..something that if you told us that 5 years ago would happen wed call you liars.

As for hte NBA...just look up Bobby KNights quote on watching it...

Went to the Winter Classic at Wrigley to see the Wings play and it was incredible. Fans stood the whole game and it felt like being a college football game. Atmosphere was great. My buddy is a huge Caps fan and wants to go to this game so we may make a trip to Pittsburgh for this.

FYI, Heinz Field or the Penguins have limited to no control over tickets, you have to buy them through NHL.com.

I might have to actually break down and buy from a ticket broker for this one.

Cool, and that's your opinion.

I just find it hard to watch hockey, simply because it's never on tv.
