I'd love to watch a team like that (stacked). I wouldn't necessarily root for them but it would be fun to watch them every night and see who could beat them/how bad they'd beat the bad teams.

I'll give you Lebron, but please, spare me on the others. D-wade has already won his championship. It was him and Shaq and then a bunch of Titos on that team. I find the notion that Joe Johnson or Chris Bosh have a "legacy" laughable. Are they good players? Sure. Will they be forgotten 20 years from now if they are top banana on any NBA team? Most definitely.

Johnson and Bosh are being pragmatic IMO. Both have no chance winning anything if they divide up the league and each star signs on a different team. For either of them to win anything more than 45+ regular season games, they need another star.

which is why i asked the question earlier. its ok for players to tamper or even "conspire", possibly even changing the league like you pointed out but an owner will be fined when all they say is that they would want a certain player. to me its basically the same thing.

True NBA fans don't want to see something like this happen because it's not good for the game. Not many people give a shit about one team, and when you don't have those marquee match-ups like LeBron vs Wade it definitely hurts the integrity and interest of the game.

I'd much rather see these guys on separate teams, save for Chris Bosh, because he's a big, so it'd be alright for him to team up.

But guys like LeBron, Wade, Joe Johnson, etc, need to stay on different teams. They need to build their own legacy, and most importantly they need to compete against each other, not tag along and use each other to win games.
They still couldn't beat the Lakers and you can take that to the bank......

I think it would be good for the NBA. New stars will be made and present ones will fade. The NBA finals would SKY ROCKET in ratings.. who wouldn't wan to watch Kobe/Gasol/ amongst other big names against Wade/LeBron/Bosh? Talk about a clash of the titans.

Trust me, it wouldn't be good for the NBA.

The MLB is dying for this exact reason.

People want to see the star players go at it with each other, not team up. It totally takes the excitement away from the season.

Trust you because you say so? Riiiight. MLB isn't dying. Stars joing up together hasn't created a monopoly in the league and lead to it 'dying'. If anything, blame the excitment drop (if there is a big difference from years past) to horrible owners and people hitting 48HR instead of 60HR a year. Steriods has done more damage then good players teaming up. It doesn't always lead to rings neways. As long as the stars are in the league, the NBA will do fine.

Funniest thing I've read in a while. NBA fans who attack baseball for "lack of parity" make me laugh. Over the past 10 years baseball has had more parity than basketball. Good luck trying to get a NBA fan to acknowledge that though.

Wouldn't surprise me if this wasn't true, because it came from the rumor mill that is ESPN. However, wouldn't be the first time or last time that an agent was bullshittin' the world either.

Especially when it comes across as the players making the decisions and making it appear as if the agent doesn't mean shit.

Hmm, really?

How many times has the Yankees MISSED the playoffs in the last 10-15 years? How many times have teams like the Indians, Twins, Royals, Reds, Pirates, etc missed the payoffs in the last 20 years?

In fact, you could probably put the times ALL those teams made the playoffs together and it wouldn't equal the Yankees.

To be a champion in the NBA, you have to have a GREAT GM. The Spurs weren't built overnight, it took time to build that team into a 4 time champion. They went from the basement to the premiere team in the league. You think that shit would happen in baseball? NOPE.

You can spin it anyway you want it, but fact remains, teams like NYY and Boston will ALWAYS have a legit advantage over any other team. You CAN'T win a championship if you DON'T make the playoffs, and it seems the Yanks and Sox never have problems doing that.

Wade said last week that he did not know yet when the players would talk. Wade's agent, Henry Thomas, said last week that no formal sit-down sessions among the headliners of this summer's class have been scheduled.

Yeah, it was just mentioned on Fox that the agents said "no meeting is happening" with the players.

I don't know if it's true or not, but I don't see why they would lie on this issue. It'd be a huge bargaining chip if these guys met up. Agents could take teams to the cleaners.

Ok, first off explain how MLB is dying. That's what I am really interested in.

For the Yanks and Sawks (who before 2005 hadn't won in a really long time) I will raise you Celtics, Lakers, and Spurs. Since 1999 the Spurs or Lakers have been involved in every single NBA Final except one. If you look way back at the past, the dominance of the Lakers and Celtics has been astounding.

MLB should hire David Stern to do its' PR work. He really has the wool pulled over some people's eyes

Look, I'm not saying that MLB's system is perfect... it isn't. But I find it frustrating when uninformed fans who just don't like the sport declare it is dying because of "lack of parity." It is a tired argument with no basis, especially when it comes from an NBA fan. How has "parity" helped the Clippers? or the Grizzlies?

The players will sit down or call each other up no doubt. Wade said it himself. He's said they've talked about it before. I will never believe an agent for the simple fact of who they are. If a player that's actually involved in this says it's going to happen, why wouldn't I believe him. All the agents of the guys involved are just back tracking from Wade's comments.

They've talked about it for a few years--part of the reason that none of them jumped at an early chance to sign an extension was for this purpose.

I can't believe anyone is even making a big deal about this. Of course they are going to talk. What else do these millionaires have to do with themselves? They will probably rent a yacht and sail around the Mediterranean for a week and talk about free agency. They have nothing else to do.
