Is anybody watching:huh:
Play has already started.

I feel bad for Juan Martin Del Potro after winning the U.S. Open last year he has played only one tournament this year(Aussie) and just had surgery on his wrist a few weeks ago. He will be out until at least November. I thought he would be the next dominant player on the mens side but now I doubt that will ever happen for him.
I didn't think Nadal would ever return to top form after his injuries but apparently he has and it looks the we are headed for another Federer/Nadal final at Roland Garros.

Murray dug himself out of a two set hole to advance to the second round.

I dislike the French Open and hardly watch at all until the quarterfinals or semifinals. I'll take Federer over Nadal and Henin over Kuznetsova in the finals.

The other Andy had to dig deep to get to the second round too.
Roddick needed five sets to get past Nieminen.

Just as long as Venus or Serena don't win, I will be happy.

The French Open can produce some of the greatest matches because of the nature of the points played. Its tough to hit winners and thus the point playing can become second to none. The problem is that also creates unwanted upsets and doesnt lend itself to the marquee match-ups later on in the tournament. Now if you get those match-ups, its a win win with the surface of clay because you have two great players playing on a court that is all about strategy and placement as opposed to power and strength like it often is other places.

Soderling upset Federer in four sets and Berdych downed Youzhny in three quick sets.
Schiavone cruised over Wozniacki and Dementieva ousted Petrova in three sets.

Berdych has been ON FIRE this tournament. He hasn't lost a set and lost just 43 games in five matches. He quickly dismissed (17) John Isner, (4) Andy Murray and Youzhny in his last three matches.

As of now, I'll take Nadal over Berdych and Serena over Dementieva in the finals.

I was shocked when I saw that Soderling beat Fed, didn't even consider that as a possibility. I was hoping to see a Fed/Nadal final.

Is it just me, or has ESPN completely botched this tourney? I realize they always show some delayed stuff....but dont they usually have their coverage come on at around 10am and not just 1pm. Its ridiculous how little LIVE action I have been able to watch of this years French.

That's one reason I don't care for this tournament is the lack of live coverage from ESPN. They do have the women's semifinals live later today (Thursday).

Before the internet and 24-hour sports channels we were watching a lot of tennis on tape delay...............................................................which was fine because we couldn't get the result before it was broadcast, now we have to go out our way not to find out before watching.

Nadal cruises again while Soderling needs all five to advance.
I'm going with Nadal to win but it should be competitive unlike the last two times he won here.

Taking Soderling for the win on the mens and Schiavone for the womens.
I agree I the coverage has sucked but its Paris and Americans suck in Paris aside from Serena and Venus most of the time.

Good point. But the only Americans I follow are Roddick and Donald Young. My favorite players other than them are all foreign, so it blows for me!

I agree with you but I like Ginepris game as well.
2 of the ugliest women playing a good final this morning, Schiavone with the first set 6-4 on serve in the 2nd.

When Rafa won the first set the outcome was a foregone conclusion from that point forward. Not much excitement in this final.

When they showed the percentage of grand slams won it was kind of funny to hear Mac pointing out that it was wrong. I remember him being corrected by other commentators because Mac himself did not know how many titles he had won or what years he was number one.
