Scientists in the US have succeeded in developing the first synthetic living cell.
Only a matter of time.

Evolution is fact.

Abiogenesis is being figured out.

Now life..... Science is amazing.

It is incredible how much progress has been made in the last century in terms of science, medicine, and technology. I often wonder if we hit the proverbial wall in terms of advancement in some aspects or will progress continue to advance exponentially. I would have thought after Full 1080P HD TVs..how much better can these really get? Now 3D Tvs...makes me wonder about the what could possibly be in store in the future.

No they are working on interstellar travel and lots more.

If we could get the religious right off our backs we could make much more progress.

3DTV is a gimmick. I wouldn't really call it "advancement". 4K x 2K is advancement.

Fair enough. I was looking for a revelant example to follow up on my HD TV example. Anyways..have you every just sat and looked at an expensive HDTV, hooked up with quality cables and just thought..how in the world can this possibly look better. It looks better than real life.

I will own a first gen or possibly a prototype jetpack when that comes to fruition. I'm PUMPED for jetpacks.

I created life as well. I inserted my penis into a vagina and 9 months later I had life.

Amazing.

Indeed. The siren song of religion is the same sort of "some stuff can't be explained" concept that caused the ICP to ponder how magnets work (not as idiotic, but in the same general field). The more advanced scientific fields of learning become, the more of these mysteries of nature will be solved. With answers that don't involve fictional deities that exist in some mystical dimension inaccessible to us (at least before we die and supposedly are subjected to some mystical afterlife determined by our faith in said fictional deity...or plural...existing in said mystical dimension inaccessible to us). WWJD???? (What Would Jupiter Do????...since the Roman rip-off of the Greek Zeus is as legit as any current deity).

Right, cuz common sense and science already ruled that out about 150 years ago.

When an opinion goes against all scientific fact, it is nothing more than a fairy tale.

Christianity: where they pick and choose which science to believe and which to ignore.

"We" have created life? I don't think so. This doesn't prove anything. How did the first "life" get "life" then?

Hmm...

Oh yeah, it was that Big Bang that miraculously just produced life. I get it now.

Whether you believe we came from evolutionary products or from the first "man" you still have to prove where life came from originally.

If there was real scientific fact, then there wouldn't be an argument.

Grab a small cup. I don't care to argue. I can see all sides of the argument, and I can see how all sides could be true. I don't feel the need to shoot down anyone's beliefs.

I can see how creationism can be viewed as "far fetched." I really, honestly can see that. I'm not here to argue my case. I have faith in it. Some people have faith, some don't. I do.

Did you actually read the article? By your comments you OBVIOUSLY have not.

They created synthetic DNA and implanted it into an already existing "host cell". While obviously very novel, very useful, very "ground breaking", it has nothing to do with evolution and abiogenesis.

They weren't even attempting at discovering anything about proteins to single cell idea of abiogenesis. They weren't even doing anything with regards to evolution. They didn't start at "amino acids" and "by chance" create a single cell which is what your view of the first life obviously is. They synthetically created DNA, just like one could with any long string polymer or protein, and implanted it into an already existing cell. I'm fully aware that DNA is much harder to synthesize than any other compound, that's the novel part of this. But for you to come on here saying this proves proteins to life abiogenesis is true is ignorant at best.

Good Lord BCS, sometimes you amaze me at how retarded your posts actually can be.
