Spare me the loyalty crap as everyone knows there isn't loyalty in college or pro sports anymore.
I live in Ohio too and if someone offered me $100,000 a yr to go to either city.You better believe I would be on the next flight out of town.I want him to stay but understand why he would leave.

I say it is 60-40. 60% he stays, 40% he goes. I hope he stays, but I think there is a serious chance he might leave. Apparently some of these Cavalier-fan posters on here have inside information or something... they all seem uber-confident that he is returning. Overconfident Cavs fans haven't been wrong before have they?

You don't understand something here. This isn't baseball. Lebron will make more money in Cleveland than he would elsewhere. He might leave, but it has nothing to do with money.

Lebron will make more money in Cleveland than he would elsewhere.
I would bet even money he signs no more than a 3 year deal regardless of where he goes, so that 6th year the Cavs can offer is kind of negated.

As long as he keeps working on 3 year contracts he can keep free agency at 28 open, as well as keeping immense pressure on front office of whatever team he is on to operate with a major sense of urgency because 3 years is not a long time.

Anyone who thinks he is signing the big 6 year deal is nuts, because all that would do is lock him into a situation long term and negate alot of the type of leverage he has operated with the past few years with the constant threat he may leave soon always hanging overhead.

There is a big difference between you getting $100,000 offer and leaving and the offers LEbron gets. Lebron is worth 100's of millions, so the money shouldn't really matter. 100,000 to you (someone that I assume isn't worth millions) could get you to move. Lebron can go whereever he likes and for less money, because he doesn't need money at all.

All three players entered the NBA the same year and signed maximum contracts after their rookie deal expires. They each earned the same amount of money this past season.
* Thirty percent of the salary cap = $15.774 million
* 105% of previous contract for LeBron, Wade and Bosh = $16.57 million
* 8% annual increases = $1.33 million
* 10.5% annual increases = $1.74 million
Total value of a non-Bird maximum contract (five years, 8%) = $96.15 million
Total value of a Bird rights maximum contract (six years, 10.5%) = $125.52 million
A difference of $29.37 million between the non-bird and bird rights offers.

On a 3 year deal he leaves less than 2 million dollars on the table. That is pocket change to him. Given the way the increases work, that 6 year is a massive balloon payment, but any contract without it looks very similar.

We don't know for sure what length deal he will sign, but I don't see why anyone would think he won't do the exact same thing he did last time this time as it did exactly what he wanted in terms of keeping flexibility and options for himself, as well as not getting stuck in a potential bad long term situation.

This had me cracking up.

Anyways, I saw this on the bottom of the scroll on ESPN this morning. I thought to myself "Really?!?! This is newsworthy, because he is a former player and has a house in Cleveland...then it must be true?!?!" Seems dumb to me.

IF he does the 3 years, he's not losing much without a sign and trade. Another thing to keep in mind is that in Miami, he'll make more of that back because he won't be getting taxed for about 43 games. I'm too lazy to look up the numbers to see how much he's really make back, but it'd cut into that 2M lost. IF he does go the 3yr way, and gets a sign and trade, he'll make the most money in Miami because of the non-tax.

I'd love for him to stay in Cleveland,but Chicago could be an instant contender with him joining Rose,Noah,etc.--and for that reason I could see him being very much interested in the Bulls...plus, it's the team of his lifelong idol ;)
