Penny gets bent out of shape when he has to do anything...he looked like he'd rather get punched in the face then have to sacrifice bunt....and it paid off for the Reds

Great game for the Reds. Arroyo looked schweet both on the hill and at the dish.

Way to go Reds!!!! Is this team for real??? I never get to see them play where I'm at. Do they have what it takes or do you think they'll be able to pick up the pieces they need to keep pace w/ the Cards???

As long as they pitch like they have been the past 3 weeks, they are for real. That's a big IF though. Arroyo, Cueto, Bailey, and Leake have all had some good starts recently.

The Reds have created a generation of a tough group to please. Many of us who are my age (26) and slightly older are the last remaining group of die-hard Reds' fans who got into them in the 80's. Since then, pretty much since the early 90's, the Reds haven't been relevant. This generation is therefore, still skeptical, especially with the recent trend of the team for the past 5 years or so...decent starts, never any finish.

So yeah, that's why it wasn't sold out. It will take time. Cincinnati used to be one of the best baseball towns, and it still can be, much like St. Louis, but it will take some consistency to bring that back. It has to start sometime, and I, like many others, hope that start is now. Not much more can be said really. I had a discussion about this with friends the other day, talking about how there really aren't any hardcore, passionate fanbases anymore that can withstand any amount of losing or hard times. Entertainment is too widespread, there are far too many options in today's world of technology and to boot, money is tough to come by in almost every area in the country. That is going to breed a generation of impatient, disloyal fans.

With that said, the natural roots are there in Cincinnati, but the team has to have some consistent reason for the people to stay on board.

Alright cool, congrats...I wasn't calling you out, but rather 20,000 or so Reds fans who didn't show up to see their first place team.

yeah well all those reds fans dont necessarily live in cinci. I mean trust me, everyone has various reasons as to why they might not be able to attend a game....im a die-hard reds fan, living in columbus. I also know three other guys at my work, which is where I was today, who are huge reds fans, but dont go much since we're up here

If the city of Cincinnati has something to cheer for when late June/early July rolls around, the fans will show up. The city wants to support a Reds' winner more than anything, but there just hasn't been any hope that late into the summer for such a long time.
