I live between two frat houses that play awful music at all hours of the day. I've learned how to go to sleep with that, so the horns dont really bother me, unless I'm thinking about them.

I just don't see how people can blow into those things for 90 minutes. Just kinda like, "REALLY!?!?!?!"

Stupid ass Serbia. They were my darkhorse to the semis. Could still happen, but I look like a moron only 3 days into the WC...

As for the horns, I pretty much am able to tune anything out. Its like the squeaking sneakers in bball. If people dont watch often are watching its inevitable they will notice. I could go a whole year and not notice it.

I don't really notice the horns either unless someone mentions it. Time for Deutschland to get it done! Bastian Schweinsteiger may have the best name in the tournament

Podolski with a rocket goal. Germany leads 1-0. Aussies had a great chance earlier on a corner.

Klose misses two easy goals and then finally finishes one with a nice header. This game looks like it has the chance to get out of hand. Deutschland clearly the better team so far.

That was an extremely bogus red card. It was a yellow at best. Australia got screwed on that one.

Germany looks to be in top form. 4-0'd the Aussies, but the US beat these guys 3-1 last week, so, I'm not going to get too excited.

They should ban then outside of games where African teams are playing. At the very least, allow them for South Africa's games.

Serbia was my dark horse too. Germany is about the only team that's actually looked good so far. Every other game has been defined by stupid plays and horrible mistakes.

Agreed. Although starting tomorrow we will get to see the best teams. Netherlands, Brazil, and Spain.

You can't have uneven playing conditions. It has to be all or nothing.

Thats true. I could see FIFA doing something retarded though and saying the conditions are even during said game, if not for the tournament as a whole.

I'm a bit of a World Cup noob....what is the purpose behind the little banners the teams exchange at the beginning of the game? Do they put them in a trophey case somewhere?

Its something that the Captains of each team get to keep (and I suppose do what they want with them). But in international football, to be Captain of your country is a HUGE honor. They exchange the banner with the other country so you can sort of keep track of who you played when you Captained your country.

At the end of games players often exchange jerseys (look next match) for the same type of reason. Just to kind of have a keepsake for the games you played for your country and who you played. For some players (I think Peter Crouch of England....when he was on Liverpool.....has made it a point to try and secure the jerseys of the best in the world. He will often ask the best players for their jerseys.

I figured it was something like that, although I didn't know it was something that each captain got to keep. Thanks for the knowledge.

The danes give up the first own goal of the 2010 world cup off of Daniel Agger to the Dutch. There is nothing quite like an own goal

Dutch come away with the 2-0 win. A couple of good matches still to come today, Japan-Cameroon just about to start followed by Italy-Paraguay.
