I still live in my hometown. Left for college and worked away from Newark for a couple of years then I moved back because of family circumstances.

maybe when I retire and have the money to build, I'll build a house there. Until then (i.e. while I need to MAKE money) I have no desire to go back to Lowell, Ohio.

My wife always tries to correct me when I say I'm "going home," when referring to going to mom and dad's. It will always be my "home," as that is where I've spent most of my life. Now, if I die where I am now, then it will be my home.

Kinda. I spent more time growing up in Urbana, OH (11 years), but I consider New Albany (8 year resident) to be my hometown because that's the place I remember best and where all of my good friends are from. I currently live on the west side of Columbus, so since New Albany is a suburb of Columbus I kind of still live in my home town, but not really. If I had the chance though, I'd move back to New Albany in an instant.

That is one definition. The most commonly used definition, however, is the place where one was born and/or grew up.

At what point can where you live be considered your hometown? If one "grew up" in a place for 18 years and has currently resided in another town for 27 years can it then be considered his/her hometown?

Are the different definitions and the one chosen as being applied determined by the user?

I've always considered ones hometown to be where they spent the majority of their childhood years.

I do still live in my hometown. For now I have no plans to move, but that will probably change someday. (I have a 12 year old daughter who live with her mother. Once she's out of high school I think I will reevaluate things, but until then I want to be around her as much as possible.)

I personally would call the place where I grew up my "hometown" and my current residence my "home", but I suppose it's up to the individual.

Where's the "Yes, I still live in the house I grew up in" option?

Depending on how it's used I too think it's up to the individual. With that being said I "still" live in my hometown. I have lived here since we built this house. It not far from where I was born and raised.

Grew up in Chillicothe also. Live in Bellevue now. Plan on leaving Bellevue one day but it won't be for Chillicothe. I have no desire to ever live their again. The women are fat and the town smells. I'm hoping to one day end up around Columbus.

Didn't live in one place long enough to have a "hometown" - born in one place, had two different elementary schools, two different middle schools (in different states), two different high schools (in different states).

I do not live in my hometown (Plymouth, OH) and probably never will again. I loved growing up there but it's too far from a lot of things. I want my kids to go to a small school like I did but also have the conveniences of a larger city nearby.

I thought that where you lived was your hometown. Where would my "hometown" be? I was born in Toledo, lived in Point Place, Risingsun, Dunkirk, Willshire and Fort Recovery. I consider Fort Recovery my hometown as that is where I live now.

Do I win the "lived in most places nobody heard of" award?

I consider my hometown the place where I grew up. I lived in Plymouth for 18 years and then again during some summers and holiday breaks. I will never consider another place my hometown no matter how long I live there.

My option isn't up there either. "No, but I would love to go back!". Born and raised in Logan. That will always be home! Live in Massillon now. Would LOVE to go back to Logan though.
