You can find the census info online. I know the 1930 census is there for sure because I have used it for some family genealogy stuff. You may be able to find out some of his relatives so not to hurt some of his family or drawl in people that are not relatives but only share the last name.

Just an FYI, the 1940 census is not out. It's every 72 years that they are released, so we have 2 more years until 1940 comes out.

My wife was put up for adoption by her biological mother because the woman was unmarried and did not feel that she could raise the baby. My wife to be was then adopted and she was brought up to Ohio from Louisville, KY. and I met her when we were both in the third grade. My wife loved her adoptive family very much and they were really nice people but from a fairly early age, my wife wanted to find her real mother. Not because she was angry at her for putting her in an orphanage, but just to "know" her real mother. Years and years of searching one dead end after another became more and more discouraging, when we received information that one of her "real" family was living in Colorado. Out of the blue one night we received a phone call from this family member who was living in Golden, Colorado, a suburb of Denver. I was there as my wife began talking to this person and as the conversation continued, it was becoming very clear to me that this "family member" was her biological mother. When my wife hung up that's what I said to her. She thought so also. Long story short, a few months later her "real" mother hopped on a plane and flew to Ohio and when I got home from school that afternoon I was face to face with her. There was no doubt about the relationship. They looked identical. Sadly, she didn't live all that long after our reunion and she had some baggage that was unfortunate as well, but she was my wife's mother and it was an amazing journey to find her. I think every kid who is adopted has at least a little curiosity about their real parents and I wish you well in your venture. It was truly exciting when we actually were visiting with her mom.

As an adoptive parent... I wish you all the best in your journey...

I have not had any biological children, but I do not think it is possible to love any child more than we do our little one. Take incredible comfort in knowing whomever raised you... probably loved you as much as any biological child has been loved.

I think the age depends on the situation... We adopted a child from Asia. Neither my wife or I are Asian.... So we have talked openly with her her concerning adoption from her earliest days. She (4) just told someone the other day "I was not in my mommy's belly" LOL

She obviously does not understand the concept yet... and she will have many questions about her birth family as she grows older. We will take her lead on how it is handled.

I am not sure what the right age is.... I guess it is when you think the child can handle the information... and somewhat understand the situation. I just know I would not want my child to find out from someone else first... you know how people will chatter.

With the help of many of the Chatter in the area of Byesville or Barnesville I have made two phone calls in my search.
The Chatter support has been great ..Thank you so much

The first was not the correct person by was very helpful in providing additional lead. That I will follow later….
The second I had left a voice message (3 times on three different days) with no reply or call back yet.
So until I can speak to the second individual and I will try a few more times I will have to move forward with the leads the first person had provided for me. It could make a full circle back to the second person …who knows.
