I don't post on jj anymore, but I did like the divided high school football forums. It just seemed to make things easier when searching for discussions concerning teams in my area of the state.

A central Ohio forum may be overkill, but what are other opinions?

I didn't care for it none..got too many duplicate threads going that way..I mean..if you are looking for topics on a certain team...is it really that hard to use the search option?

True, the search option is an asset. That said, there are many times that you may not be looking for a certain school until you notice the thread on the forum. A divided forum makes it easier to spot topics that may be of interest to you.

I think we should have a North and South for football.

Maybe divide it up by divisions. One and two, three and four, five and six. Any crossover games defaults to the higher divisions thread.

I definitely advocate for split threads. I didn't mind switching between them, and it kept most conversation relative to the region. Any split is fine by me, whether by region or division.

Probably should, but only if they are busy enough to warrant that. I also hated the duplicate posts.

... I see both sides of this discussion & I'm leaning towards a North and a South forum. When you only have one forum, there are usually way too many threads to sift through for the entire state, so I think having (2) separate forums would simplify things for the huddlers.

I did not like the divided forums. It is not convienent and I see no redeeming qualities in it.

I might make a suggestion here, rather then a north south split. How about a "weekly Game thread" next year you could start with Week 1. And under that thread would be nothing but game threads only. You could have another thread for all things related to high school football-not game threads. Such as the "The Mac is doing great thread" or "Team is looking for a new coach" That would make it pretty easy to find your game threads and the like.

I was thinking the other thing that would do is make it pretty easy for you guys as admins to go back and purge weekly game threads. Just a thought. Probally no one would go back 3 or 4 weeks to post on an old game thread.
Unless your Orrville and Genoa-srry had to get that in!

I agree with the split division forums. It would be much easier to find the team you're interested in and you don't need to know where they are located geographically. Not everyone is interested in their local team exclusively.

In the case of, say a D-III playing a D-II the thread would be found in the larger division forum. In the case of an out-of-state opponent, place the thread in the in-state teams division forum. I realize it is 6 forums vs. 2 (or 1 as it now), but IMO it would sure streamline things. The search function is fine as far as it goes, but it is limited. Food for thought. This site is coming along nicely and will continue to evolve.

I also agree any changes should take place AFTER the playoffs, say after January 1?

Not yet. You don't really need to split the forum until you are getting the posts to make it so. Remember, you currently have about 1500+ members, but if you go to the second page right now, about the 6th thread down is a 6:47 am post from this morning. It took 5 hours to push that thread that far down. This may not always be the case, but it sure seems to make sense that you would want to include any new posts within the last 6 hours or so on your first page, so why not extend the length of the threads on the football forum. Even then, you won't have to make this decision until next season when "it hits the fan."

I like the idea of splitting the forum up to make it easier to see/find topics. I am concerned about having it split by divisions though, as I think that would make it more work to find things, especially if you were unsure of the division a certain school was in currently. I'd vote for the north-south split.

Well right now there isn't really the traffic to warrant splitting anything up anyways. But after the playoffs..I'll mention it to justincredible and get his thoughts on it.

If you do split divisions won't you still have the issue with duplicate threads when you have a game thread with teams in 2 different divisions?

Need more posters before splitting. Right now it is the General Forum with the regulars who constantly posted on JJ's Sports/Trivia Board that is driving this site. Hopefully the word gets out on this place and generates the same type of traffic for high school sports.

I'd venture to say there is more posters here than you think..don't forget..this site was started during the playoffs..when the football season was over for most teams..I don't think we'll be able to get an accurate count of how popular the HS forums are on this one until next football season starts.

I agree, big guy. I would get wrapped up in a thread and forget there was a south forum, half the time. If all are combined I can simply click on any thread I want without having to go to another forum. Might sound a little lazy, but it is what it is. :P

You'd have the same issue if you split it north & south. Although probably not as often.
